I'll be the first one to stand in line and say that he's the most boring fighter in history. But he sure did fight anyone they put in front of him, and he sure has some wins over some top level opponents.

Obviously this thread was a joke and I have to admit that some of the comments both from the people who got it and the very confused people who didn’t were very funny.

But on another note, while there are clearly a lot of negative things that can be said about John Ruiz’s style in the ring, where he really shined was who he was out of it. There has seemingly not been one person who has met him that hasn’t said he was both a class act and a good representative for boxing.

So I while have to say that watching his boxing style was not always enjoyable, the sport could certainly use more people like him.
