    Marco Bolo? Thats funny ^^

I guess its an uppercut of some sort. All we know is that it is a punch which will set up Mannys left hook.

I hope Freddy is right though I hope Manny hasnt reached his peak yet.

Pardon my ignorance, but how does a lefty deliver a left hook from a southpaw stance?

I just don't see this happening, regardless of how each win looks.

Why would Pacquiao get more credit than Mayweather for beating an older guy, in a rematch, that he already won, against a guy who is ranked lower P4P than the guy Mayweather is fighting?

Not unless they are completely devoid of any boxing skill.

Ricardo Mayorga does the equivalent for an orthodox fighter. He throws right hooks out of his orthodox stance, but they don't call them that. It's the "looping right hand."

What you're saying is a "looping left hand" thrown by a lefty off a southpaw stance is a left hook for as long as his skills level is that of a Ricardo Mayorga. Correct?

I'm saying that when someone throws a hook with the hand they keep in the back, it is called a looping _____ hand.

I was also saying that not many skillful fighters throw them. Only Mayorga and Miranda, off the top of my head, are fighters that I have seen throw them.

Gotcha. So not too many skillful fighters throw them and the only ones that quickly come to mind are Miranda and Mayorga who are not exactly the epitome's of boxing skills. And the ones that Mayorga and Miranda are not even called by most as a left hook. They're what are dubbed as "looping right hand" punches.

That leaves me still ignorant. And, I'm back to my original question:How exactly does a lefty throw a left hook? By throwing a "looping left hand" which then only very few shall call a left hook?

Usually a hook is only thrown with the hand in front... that's the easiest way to think about it. Pretty much no one throws a hook with their back hand... because it takes forever to get there, meaning it is easy to block or slip and then counter.

Exactly what I thought. A lefty's equivalent of the the right handed's left hook is what may be called the right hook. And a lefty's equivalent of the right handed's right cross is what could be called the left cross. A lefty's straight is a left straight and not a right straight.

I am therefore surprised that the thread starter spoke of Roach reportedly preparing the southpaw Pacquiao to throw a left hook. I tried to visualize it and tried to evaluate its possible effectiveness as a "surprise weapon" against Marco. I cannot make heads and tails of it.

                    That's why I asked.

Yeah, that was obviously a misprint or something... because if Roach is planning on beating Barrera with left hooks, I think they have vastly overestimated how shot Barrera is.
