What? Mayweather Envious of De La Hoya

This Statement was quoted by Raymond Markarian: "Floyd Mayweather Jr. must have been envious of the fanfare. However Mayweather’s return to the ring is somewhat misguided. Unlike the previously stated fighters, Mayweather Jr. is coming back to acquire the public exposure that he never had. Mayweather wants to be remembered as a hero. He wants to be a beloved fighter. It sounds strange to put boxing legend and Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the same sentence but Mayweather chose the perfect opponent in his effort to gain that stature. The Ricky Hatton fight is the stepping stone in Pretty Boy Floyd’s quest for legendary status. Hatton is Mayweather’s version of Antonio Tarver vs. Bernard Hopkins at a higher scale."
My Take: Lay boxing fans and Followers of the Golden Boy, relish over articles like this. Is it not Oscar who seems to be publicly "campaigning" a Mayweather loss. Plain and simple De La Hoya, would like nothing beter than to be on that Global stage. Surely he, along with Golden Boy Promotions is quickly becoming the marquee promotional vehicle, nonetheless. De la Hoya, without a shadow of doubt, has a major role in the "Showdown of the ages", but he is NOT the Headliner. The Mayweather-De La Hoya epic was recognized as a Huge Global Event, with himself being the overall favorite. It is more than obvious that he feels it is himsef, who should be presented as the best "Our Country" has to offer. Figure this. Mayweather-Hatton overshadowed and eclipsed any record previously set by the Mayweather-De La Hoya event, on a Global Scale, from a finacial stand point to public interest. Sure, De La Hoya stands to benefit Greatly (financial stand-point) from this event. But one thing is certain, HE Is Not The One Being Showcased In This History Making Event. Would that not be enough to fuel envy driven antics. A Mayweather loss would give him the opportunity to take "Center Stage".

I agree, it's like people are making Floyd out to seem like he's trying to be someone who RIGHT NOW, at this stage would LOVE to be in HIS position in Oscar De La Hoya, everyone is saying all this **** about Floyd breaking down but what about the golden boy? how many times before was he talking about retirement? now he wants 3 more fights and a tune up on regular TV, THATS trying to make yourself relevant again dogz because he's in a division where there are many heavy hitters, then he says he's no longer fighting Puerto Ricans, c'mon man with this guy doing all of this people mean to tell me Floyd is the one breaking down? nah yo and that writer doesn't know ****, Floyd is ALREADY a legend and he's astonished to hear Floyd and legend in the same sentence, this guy don't know **** and the comparison to Tarver-Hopkins is even dumber, Hopkins is an aging man on his way out and Tarver ain't so young himself and he's trying to compare two fighters colliding at the PEAK of their career's, this guy should become a movie critic or something.. 100

I just don't get that right there, Oscar is a big draw no doubt but Mayweather is right there with him so he doesn't need to be LIKE him, "The World Awaits" was so big because it was two MEGA stars in boxing not just Oscar fighting another fight, now with this hoe ***** Milana and co. they dealt Oscar a bad blow, coming off the biggest loss of his career and then you got this he-she coming out with those pics, it pretty much ****s with Oscar's image, Floyd on the other hand went on to surpass "The World Awaits" with Ricky Hatton and combined overseas and US sales for the fight, in a half hour the tickets were sold out, up until now Ricky couldn't do that, he sold out arenas but not in less than no hour and certainly not over here in the US, Oscar at this point MAYBE but even still Floyd has no reason to want to be anything like Oscar, I feel u though but Floyd got a healthy bank account already, he beat Oscar and if either one of these two wants what the other has I would say it's Oscar who just lost to Floyd in his last fight, he would've wanted the talent to beat Floyd and thats a talent only Floyd has.. 100

Floyd understands he needs to work with Oscar; he even said the future of boxing is GBP AND Mayweather. He understands how Oscar used his status as a draw to get the big fights and bring the big opponents under his banner (as partners, for the good one). He wants to follow that I think. He understands that Oscar has good intentions, for the fighters to take over the game and force out the Kings and Arums as well as the alphabet orgs. But since Mayweather is now the in-ring star, not Oscar, it's Mayweather who will continue to force the next generation stars into promotional independence (from Arum, King, and the other devils who've killed the sport).
