Sad to say but I am from the Philippines. Yes I admit that things are better for them now but I would not say that they are "Well-accepted". Tolerated would be a better term because they are very talented in the entertainment industry. I mean if you were a parent, you would not entertain the thought or even imagine your children being ****sexual when they grow up.Comment

Not just in the entertainment industry. There are so many that come out of the closet, unlike here in the US. The hate crimes and descrimination against them is prevalent compared to the Philippines. I'm not saying the Philippines is a haven for this, but it is far more tolerated and they aren't hated. I bet you have some gay friends yourself.Sad to say but I am from the Philippines. Nong Toom was never an exceptional Thai Boxer. Always entertaining though. They used Nong later on to mostly beat the **** out of forgein fighters.
Ironically **** sex is quite in demand by visitors to Thailand hence the comparatively large proliferation of gatoeys in recent years.Comment

Yeah I agree. I do have gay friends. I'm trying to say that even though things have improved, the Philippines by large still has a ****phobic culture. Many gay celebrities have earned respect but many people still look down on gays because they grow up thinking that that ****sexuals are not normal. Their is growth in terms of gender sensitivity in the Philippines but there is still a very long way to go. Anyway enough about that because this is a boxing forum so let's just talk about the beautiful boxer. I think it's cool that he (or should I say she) fought in the ring to improve his life and gain his ambition. Not just in the entertainment industry. I finally saw the movie. By the time she fought this guy, she was already on estrogen hormones and lost some of her strength. Yet still managed to keep it close competitive fight (she lost).
