WBO Inter-Continental super middleweight champion Jurgen Brahmer (30-1, 24 KOs) destroyed challenger Mario Veit (49-4, 23 KOs) tonight, stopping him in four rounds tonight at the Stadthalle, Rostock, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Brahmer, 28, totally dominated the bout, knocking Veit down twice and in the process, gaining revenge for an earlier majority decision loss last year. Fighting behind a strong jab, the southpaw brahmer stunned Veit, 33, in the first round after connecting with a double jab. Veit was able to weather the storm, but from there it was all down hill for the lanky Veit, who had major problems with Brahmer’s excellent jab.

In the first round, both fighters exchanged jabs, fighting cautiously and throwing few combinations. Brahmer spent most of the time stalking Veit, and trying to get in punching range for the taller fighter. The round was pretty much even until the near the end, when Brahmer connected with a double right jab, the second punching hurting Veit and knocking him backwards a couple of steps.

Seeing that he was hurt, brahmer quickly moved in and landed three pulverizing left hooks to the side of Veit’s head just before the round ended. Veit was very lucky the rounded ended at that time because he didn’t look as if he would make it much longer without going down.

Both fighters went back to their jabbing attacks in round two, although every once in awhile, Brahmer would catch up to Veit and unload with a powerful combination, snapping Veit’s head back violently. Overall, it was Brahmer’s round due to the combinations and the more frequent jabs. However, Veit landed a number jabs his own self, which was partly responsible for Brahmer staying more conservative offensively.

Round three started out much like the previous two rounds, as both fighters took turns landing terrific looking jabs and reddening each other’s face. Brahmer’s right eye was beginning to swell and bleed underneath, courtesy of Veit’s stinging jabs. Near the end of the round, Veit landed an excellent combination to the head of Brahmer. This seemed to tick of Jurgen, who then responded with a string of uninterrupted punches ending with a left hook that dropped Veit with 19 seconds to go in the round. After getting up, Veit was tagged with another seven punches as the round closed.

At the start of the fourth round, Brahmer was all over Veit, looking for a knockout, as he rained blows on him. Veit, however, was able to land a couple of jabs before Brahmer moved in and finished him off with a four-punch combination, sending him to the canvas for a final time.
