Ruiz has always fought big guys close. I thought he beat Valuev, and he put up a good fight against Chagaev. I think he gives Peter a good fight.

It seems a lot of people still underestimate Ruiz.

OK, he's been in some of the most boring fights ever, but his last couple of fights were pretty damn good, the Chagaev bout especially.

Very close fight, with Chagaev's speed edging him enough rounds to give him the bout, but it was one of the better heavyweight fights of the year.

Lots of action & a very fast pace throughout - way better than the Peter-Toney fights.

Ruiz not getting any younger, but still might have enough in the tank outwork Peter in close while avoiding his bombs on the outside, & I think it might actually be a good bout.

          Agreed on all points.

And if Huggy Bear mans up where Maskaev won't **** it...let him take the fight.

I'd rather see this one than Golota vs Peter. I think a Ruiz-Peter fight would be more competitive than Golota. Peter will end this fight as quick as Brewster did...

He just seems to find a way to win when he shouldnt.

As for Peter, overrated, calling out the champ after knocking out Taurus Sykes, please. 2 wins over an old, overweight Toney, means nothing.

Yes, Tua nearly killed Ruiz when they fought, and fast, but that was a young , fit , savage Tua, Peter is not in the same league as THAT Tua, and would have lasted just as long as Ruiz
There was never anything special about Rahman. And Sam Peter is a better fighter now than Rahman was at a young age.

Not to mention Rahman's 1 victory over Lennox was a fluke avenged by a knockout. Hasim Rahman also lost to a 40 year old Holyfield, and a 40 year old Maskaev.

I totally disagree with you thinking Peter would last as long as Ruiz did against Tua. In fact I don't think Tua would stop him and the fight is closer to an Ibeabuchi/Tua match up.

Bottom line is that Peter is a bad match up for Ruiz. That's clear.

this fight has the potential to be really boring but if Peters knocks out Ruiz or beat him convincingly i think he'd get more recognition that by fighting Golata

Agreed. If Peter doesn't ice Golota in one round...yikes.

name one fighter more durable and as hard or harder to knockout than ruiz that peter has stopped? none. this would be another distance fight for peter and I wouldnt be shocked if ruiz pulled out another ugly win
