Active fighters would be Trinidad, Cotto, Cintron.
My favorite early 80's PR fighter was Hector "Macho" Camacho
78-5-2 37 KOs.
I always looked forward to watching him fight on tv.
He had fast hands and feet with decent punching power, had great charisma,
the Superman curl, and flashy ring outfits.
I remember his childhood story, which should be made into a movie, by the way, of Hector running around the streets of NYC fighting in gangs and doing poorly in school until his school teacher convinced him to try out boxing, eventually becoming his mentor and guiding him to world championship fights.
I also remember watching his fight with JC Chavez live on tv outside a neighbor's house with a group of fans in the Bronx, and him stating to his mom after his loss that he was urinating blood.
Many of his fans and I agree that his hard partying did the damage to his life and career.
I know he would've been ranked up there with the likes of Trinidad had he maintained discipline in his training and didn't party so much.
