    professional boxing

sorry if this is the wrong place to make this thread but i didn't really know where to put it. i was just interested if there are any professional fighters out there who turned professional near enough straight away. sorry if this is a ****** qeustion........ obviously they would have to be training and up to the task but is there anyone who had a very short amateur carrer and then went on to have a good professional one.
(dont worry i'm not thinking of doing for myself just curious about it)

Ronald Hearns, Tommy's son only had 10 amateur fights before he went pro, and he won 9 of em. Im sure theres better examples of what you're looking for, thats all I knew though.

It's a much better idea to get a good amateur career behind you, including some good tournament wins. It isn't just about getting experience as a fighter (although that is certainly an important factor) but also about being noticed by a manager or promoter who will look after your interests. Pro boxing is a dog eat dog world and the last thing you want is to find yourself thrown in with a killer before you get a chance to build a record. Don't forget that even a guy like Zab Judah with 35 wins is labelled a "bum" by the boxing public because of his five losses. Imagine losing your first four fights iun today's climate, your career would be over before it began.
