Vernon Forrest, #4 P4P at the end of 2002 after 2 wins against Shane Mosley, who was #1 before the first fight. Proof that beating #1 doesn't make you #1.Comment

Well in terms of accomplisments and even skills Mosley is greater then Vernon but in head to head comparisons Vernon Forrest is the better fighter. He has Shane's number. Notice that I said better, not greater.Comment

I agree with your avatar by the way. He is going to be really really good.Comment

Excellent point. If Hatton beats Mayweather he does not really have any right to claim to be number one P4P.Comment

I have heard him say several times that he looks forward to being the #1 p4p fighter after this fight.
Taylor is undefeated vs Hopkins, Ouma, Wright and Spinks.
Winky has onedisputed loss vs taylor, hopkins, shane, trinidad, quartey
I would say that those two guys have better arguments for the #1 slot than Ricky would.Comment

I agree also. Being p4p best isn't like being a champion. A championship belt can be swapped fight after fight like judah-baldomir-mayweater did but being p4p is different. I say if hatton beats floyd and considering that he is undefeated and a 140-147 champ he would move up to the #2 spot with bernard becoming p4p best and taylor b being # 2 if he beats pavlik and he will. I would drop floyd from the top 10 list at that point.Comment

But in hatton's mind, it does.

Don't forget Manny if he beats Barrera, it is his for the taking if he wins, and him and Marquez can duel it out for P4P #1. Speaking of which, if Mayweather loses, and Marquez and Pacquiao don't lose until they fight each other again, then it would be only the second time a #1 vs. #2 P4P showdown took place. Hopefully this one doesn't end in a draw.Comment
