They JUST wrote an ARTICLE on the chances of PETER-MASKAEV being postponed!!!!!

lol. RIGHT before the fight was called off, there was an article released on ES boxing that went through all the big fights to end the year and talked about the chances of that fight being called off. Here is what they said about Peter-Maskaev

    Oleg Maskaev-Sam Peter
    Oct 6
    Heavyweight (200 lbs. +)
Risk factors: Maskaev and his handlers did virtually everything they could not to take this fight, and conventional wisdom is that they're worried the aging Maskaev is going to get splattered in a high-risk, low-reward battle that could end his marketability just as it had reached its improbable peak.
Chances of postponement: Low. Peter's team played hardball to force this match to happen. Anyone think that if it's postponed any other word besides "lawsuit" is the first to pop into the Peter crew's mind?

They should sue. I hope Peter's attorneys collect millions off this.

Peter has become this sympathetic figure in the eyes of fans. He could actually come out this with even more fans.

          Maskaev-Peter Postponed!
By Karl Freitag and Andre Courtemanche
The rash injuries plaguing big fight cards has struck again. ********* has learned that the October 6 WBC heavyweight championship clash between Oleg Maskaev and Samuel Peter at Madison Square Garden will be postponed due to injuries sustained by Maskaev to his back and ankle. According to Maskaev manager Fred Kesch, Oleg has been working very hard and "really wants this fight." Maskaev came back in pain and tilted over to one side after his roadwork yesterday. An MRI showed several herniated discs and a couple bulging discs in his back. In addition, Maskaev had a contusion on his ankle. "Oleg wanted to work through the pain but the doctor told him no," said Kesch, "he's never backed out of a fight." Kesch added that the bout would be postponed 90 to 100 days.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, the Peter Camp wants to keep the Madison Square Garden date and is lobbying for the WBC to strip Maskaev or approve an interim title fight against an opponent to be named

.....Not sure how you can sue a guy who says he was injured. If they can prove that there was no injury then maybe. Otherwise they have jack **** to stand on. Duva is jumping to conclusions that Oleg is simply backing out and that remains to be seen. How the hell do they figure Sam Peter should just be awarded the title based on their hunch that Maskaev is pulling one over. Peter didn't earn ****. Maskaev should temporarily vacate the title and Peter should have to fight the next best contender for the title in a best case scenario for the Duva camp.

The promoters have so much invested in this fight card, I don’t see how they could possibly postpone or even cancel at this point. So what’s Sam Peter to do now? Does he face the # 2 ranked contender Oliver Mccall and fight for the interim title or does he take a less risky fight against a handpicked opponent that poses little risk to him?

I say he fights Mccall for the interim title; Peter’s in great shape, and has been preparing for a long time so it wouldn’t be such a stretch to go from Maskaev to Mccall. What do you guys think about this?.....

Yeah I agree. I'd definitly like to see this fight. But Mccall's penciled in to fight on October 19th. All depends on if he could get out of this bout..
