he would've been an excellent fighter but still had his flaws. he was still too aggressive for his own good and took too many shots.

taylor was actually still good after chavez.

he looked pretty good at ww against superman davis.

if taylor had not run towrds chavez after getting hurt 10 seconds before the bell, he wouldve won....when chavez landed the hooks he backed off and it was taylor who chased him down...chavez just spinned and pinned him in the corner...

It lies within the question of the simple fact that when Meldrick got punished by Chavez, he was physically dismantled, but also dominated him for the entire damn fight. I see it from both perspectives, especially Ron Borges':

Ron Borges: "Look at the end of the fight and tell me what you see: One guy got assaulted, so should they have stopped the fight...yeah, they should have stopped the fight." Such a good way to put it, but then again, I don't see how much more damage could have been done to Taylor with less than 10 seconds left in the fight.

Whether or not Taylor won or lost the Chavez fight, he would NEVER be the same fighter. He got absolutely taken apart because Chavez hit him so much and so hard. But if he hadn't been so much of a Philadelphia fighter, I think taht yes, he could have possibly been in contention as the GOAT.

Meldrick Taylor was a great fighter. No the Chavez fight should not have been stopped the damage done was already done. Taylor brawled in too many fights when he didn't have to. It is ****** to me not to use your obvious advantages and come down to your opponents level.

I allways respected Meldrick because he cared about the fans and wanted to put on a show, allot of boxers these days just dont care as long as they get the Win they dont care if they put everybody to sleep.

no, he just threw the quickest flurries, but that doesn't make him the best combo puncher ever.
