That's how long Emanuel Steward believes it's going to take for ringsiders to watch Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik discover a new definition for his nickname.

For that's how long the Hall of Fame boxing trainer believes it will take his World Boxing Council and World Boxing Organization Middleweight champion, Jermain Taylor, to make the challenger disappear when they meet for Taylor's titles on Sept. 29 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.

Reached on his cellular phone in the Poconos, N.J., on Wednesday night, where he had just completed another long day training Taylor (27-0-1, 17 KOs), Steward said Pavlik (31-0, 28 KOs) "is pretty much a media creation, the way I see it."

Steward believes that the Youngstown, Ohio, resident was elevated to an undeserved level of prominance after winning via seventh-round KO what Steward views as little more than a battle of Rock-em, Sock-em Robots against Edison Miranda on May 19 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn. [details]
I can't disagree too much with Taylor and Steward..

Pavlik is NOT going to win this fight IMO.

Let me go on record here, again.

Steward is training Taylor. I wonder about his objectivity. Pavlik is 31-0, 28 KOs. A 90% KO rate is not a "media creation." That's just a power punching SOB.

Taylor already has the advantage with a trainer like emanuel steward. Emanuel Steward is the trainer for champions. Pavlik comes forward, while Taylor will fight in angles.

You would think that would be the gameplan. But, evidently Steward is telegraphing that Taylor will be going toe to toe with Pavlik (for a knockout by 3). Maybe, this is just a mind game going on. It's pretty clear IMO that Taylor's odds of winning go up if he stays outside. On the inside, however, Taylor's odds crash down in a spectatular fireball. If you get my meaning. On the whole, I think Taylor will box outside but eventually engage Pavlik. I say this because IMO Taylor wants the ppv attraction that exciting fighters receive. So, he will come in and engage. This will be his big mistake because Pavlik will hurt him and then eventually take him out. Pick Pavlik to win by KO/TKO in the later rounds.

I can't believe someone wrote that.

One person has beaten Winky Wright since he turned into the defensive matrix, and that was Bernard Hopkins, because his control of the ring was able to make Winky fight his fight, that is it.

Pavlik = Trinidad when it comes to fighting Wright.

Maybe and maybe not. Out of his wins, can anyone recognize more than 3 names that he has beaten? I can't, but I'm still limited on the sport a little, so that's no surprise.

Anyways, what about Tyson Brunson? He has a 100% KO ratio so far, he is 18-0 with 18 KOs (maybe it is up to 19 now, I don't remember), but anyways, has he crushed anyone worth mentioning? No, so we still don't know if he is just crushing weak chins or whether he is the real deal.

You know? I think this Taylor fight will prove a lot about "The Ghost."

                  I'm curious about this myself.

People get overly excited when they see a prospect with a punch. It tends to cloud their better judgement. I say again, Winky Wright would embarrass Pavlik just like he did Tito. I doubt Kelly would get a single round.

my point exactly. thats what i was gonna say. pavlik will try the same strategy that trinidad did which was just rely on his power. wright would jab the **** out of him and make him look crazy. people forget that even though wright doesnt have alot of knockout power he can still make you look dumb as hell by outboxing you. in my opinion thats just as bad cause the guy makes you look and feel like an amateur all over again.

Losing a decision to Winky Wright actually might be more confidence damaging then getting knocked out.

You think Sam Soliman has any confidence in his jab anymore? Against Wright: 10 jabs landed out of 333... an unimpressive 3%.
