Generally speaking, if someone hasn't done anything against you, and you know they're great, you respect them. Bam, respect earned. Like, since I haven't seen Hatton do anything disrespectful, and I know he's great, he deserves respect. Easy as that.

There is a such thing as mutual respect between two fighters, and Floyd decides to throw that way of thinking out the window. Even if you do have to have a bad guy....

Well, at the press conference Mayweather made it a point to invade Hatton's personal space and to make it appear like he was bullying Hatton. This could have been done to help sell the fight, to try and intimidate Hatton, or BOTH. I think it was both. However, Hatton handled it perfectly. There really is a contest going on right now... who can get into who's head? It's interesting. I'm more interested in this aspect of it than judging either fighter of classlessness. This is just a part of boxing. But, in my opinion based upon the first press conference it's ....1-0 in favor of Hatton. Hatton acted exactly like a guy whose intently ready to hurt somebody and doesn't need to make a show for the cameras. Let's watch Mayweather from here on out to see how he responds.

Floyd seems like he was just trying to play mind games. I think he often does this and then says "I was selling the fight", but adding a touch of bad blood is secondary to him wanting to intimidate his opponents.

I don't think it worked on Hatton either. Hatton just kind of laughed it off.

I rarely let a fighter being annoying or an ******* affect how I like them as fighters.

Some of my favorites:

Sugar Ray Robinson- the guy used to beat up his wife and kids.
Mike Tyson- no comment necessary.
Joe Louis- almost killed his mistress in a domestic argument.
Diego Corrales- incarcarated for beating his pregnant wife
Bernard Hopkins- the way he treated and talked about Bouie Fisher was pretty cruel.
Julio Cesar Chavez- had a reputation for being an *******.

...And we're such perfect little saints.

You are aware that these athletes are human beings, right?

I don't know about the rest of ya, but I shed out my money to watch these guys fight in the ring...not what they do behind closed doors.
