Speaking of that, did you know that Joe Frazier was the only fighter George Foreman ever feared? George talked about it during Joe's "Beyond the Glory". I believe the quote went something like.......

I watched Joe Frazier beat Muhammad Ali, I watched him mow down contender after contender. I kept thinking "as long as this guy is the Heavyweight Champion of the World, I'll never be." I kept hoping he'd die.

I never heard that, but it doesn't surprise me. In many eras, Joe Frazier would have had a long reign (this era for instance), but unfortunately for him, he had the 70s. Ouch.

Pretty damn sweet record in his old age.
I would agree too. In fact, I didnt even consider Foreman at his best against Ali, his defence wasnt as good and he didnt pick his punches as well.

but I would also say that Tyson was way more explosive and even a better defensive fighter than Lyle as well. I wouldnt say Tyson had no heart...he took some beatings and kept coming forward...but he kind of lost his focus in a fight if it got pretty tough.

but whos to say that Tyson couldnt catch Foreman early? The first time that Lyle caught Foreman in that fight(I just rewatched it, what a great fight lol) was with a right hand over Foremans jab. Foremans jab, while very stiff and useful, WAS a bit slow, and Tyson was excellent at exploding over left hands with his right. plus a lot of the time Foreman would hold behind the head for his clinch, and that is a very bad thing to do with Tyson.

Like I said, I give Foreman the win, but I dont think Foreman would have an easy time. On the contrary, I think he would get hit by hard shots and possibly staggered before Tyson folded.

Yeah if Tyson was extra ferocious and having a 'good heart day' it would be a fight for the ages. Imagine the buildup to such a fight.

Too bad it didn't happen. Even in Foreman's comeback it would have been a great fight to see and market.

tyson was scared ****less of foreman. he was like "dont put me in the ring with that aminal" and yes he did say aminal.

btw to the dude that said foreman said the frazier was the only boxer he feared is a bs comment from foreman. dont forget, this is the happy go lucky old foreman not the young monster. i dont believe that story. i heard the same thing too.

I have to agree with almost everyone on this. Big George to win, but he'd have to come through some tricky moments, it wouldn't be as easy as the Frazier fight. This thread is quite unlike most others, there isn't much debate or arguing going on, everyone seems to be in agreement.

Frazier DID do it and Foreman shook the damn thing off. Frazier landed a huge left hook to the head that spun George's head around, and George just blinked and hit Frazier again.
