    Rules that need changing??

i personally think its absolutely ridiculous that when a fighter spits out his mouthpiece that they take him to his corner and rinse alittle water on it and stick it back in there. its completely ****** and just as pointless.

if a guy spits it out the ref should just jam it right back in his mouth, two times on purpose, give him a 2 point deduction, 3rd time and he is DQ'ed

what the hell does putting a little water on it do to clean anything really?? and for cryin out loud theyre exchanging blood and sweat all night long and people want to be worried that maybe a litttle piece of dirt is on mirandas mouthpiece.

If anything gets stuck to the Guard .. however small.. The impact of a punch could drive the object into the gums causing damage..

I think if it is on purpose (ie Miranda during the Pavlik fight) I would just be inclined to call the fight off. If you need more time than the standing 8 count after a knockdown, then you are done.

Not doing this allows fighters to make calculated decisions about whether a point deduction is worth giving them a better chance of not getting knocked out.

          I'm with Steal.

I would LOVE to see "day of" weigh-ins.

If boxing insists upon retaining all of these additional divisions - junior thises and super thats - then at least bring some sanity back to the weigh-in procedures.

I am a throwback kinda guy. Despite forum opinions to the contrary. I respect Shane for moving up in weight the old-school way. I would like to eliminate all of the "fake" weight divisions.

          What the **** is a 154??

I was a competitive wrestler. We had half as many weight classes as boxing does. And in wrestling, you often lift, bear or move the entire bodyweight of your opponent. Something that you never do in boxing.

and the weight increments don't even make sense. it goes up seven pounds from 140 to 147. And then it goes up six pounds from 154 to 160. And then it goues up 8 pounds to 168. Then seven pounds to 175. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT??

Go back to the classic weight divisions!!

It will spur more competition, it will eliminate all of the garbage belts out there, and it won't allow guys to hide from each other by moving a few pounds away.

            1. Same day weigh-ins. Safety needs to be a concern and focus taken more seriously. Fighters are taking big chances with insane weight cuts and next day rehydrations up to their normal weight.

            2. 8 oz gloves for 154lbs fighters and below. 10 oz for weights above.

            3. Mandatory disclosure of event proceeds. Hate saying it but what Goldenboy is doing in that respect should be the standard for all promoters.

Not really a rule but sanctioning bodies should go to hell.

Weigh-ins should be an hour before the match. I don't like this blowing up 13 pounds since the weigh in ****.

I also agree about how many divisions there are... too many. Especially at the lower weights.

"Well, I'm done at minimumweight, I think I'll go three whole pounds north to junior flyweight." Cool.
