Does hosting the fight at the MGM rob it of its potential?

Politics played to big a role in having this fight at the MGM Grand. ****, Hatton could've filled that arena with his fans alone. I would've liked to see this fight be held at a 30k+ arena just to see the this mega fight break live gate records, etc. The fans got short changed by having this fight held at the MGM.

It wasn't politics. It was economics.

Please explain what you mean by "politics".

Thomas and Mack would have been better, but this is the way things go with Golden Boy, one thing that really bothers me about them...they LOVE the casinos, whereas you see Top Rank doing things in Chicago, MSG, Texas, et al. I know GBP does shows in other places, but for their big events it is always the MGM or Madalay...ugh.

The venue is too small. Damn shame.

Quite the contrary... the closed circuit facilities are even BETTER. You get the full-screen match, and a near-arena environment.

You get nearly all the advantages of WATCHING the fight, with few of the negatives that accompany being in a big arena.

I love the way GBP has set this up.

I have been in Vegas for those events. It works well.

That's awesome for the fans, but for Hatton himself to not get that missing vocal support, it's a hindrance caused by staging the fight in a casino instead of a stadium or large arena like T&M or even Staples...

Trust me on this, 3,900 Hatton fans will make one hell of a racket inside the MGM come Dec 8th, and that's only the official allocation, They'll be more there then the official numbers.

**** that, eventually you have to leave your comfort zone, if you like fighting amongst your fans then dont leave your country where the game aint gonna be in your favor, im tired of all this crying. It was good enough for bruno, it was good enough for tszyu, its been good enough for puerto ricans and mexicans and filipinos, stop ****in crying.

Chavez filled a stadium with over 120,000 people in it, and still fought at the MGM without issue. im tired of all this whining and crying.
