im gonna start roadwork tomorrow and im wondering what i should be shooting for in distance. Ive been smoking for about 5-6 years a half pac a day, until now I QUIT. Im in canada so if you can tell me in kms. The gym is about 15k's away, if by some miracle i can jog there and not die in the process Ill sign up, if not its only 1or2 months till i have a license . Currently I can run at about 2/3 speed for about 15mins non stop ,if i had a pod to keep my mind of the stopwatch im sure it would be longer.Any advice(even stuff not concerning running) would be great.

Find the sweet spot in your speed. Many times I've tried to start out fast with the impression that I'll stay that speed my entire run, and that doesnt work out. Pick a speed you are comfortable with, and stick with it, and the better shape you get in, move that speed up. Run at that speed til your tired. -
the speed isnt the issue I need a distance toshoot for. a distance that when i do it i know im in good or decent shape for a boxer, if i wanted to be 'comfortable' i would never want to get in a tiny ring and get hit in the head. not that I WANT to get hit in the head but you get the meaning.Find the sweet spot in your speed. Don't kill yourself the first time out! 15K is close to 10 miles I think! I like to do at least a 5K run (a little over 3 miles four days a week) plus hit the gym for anywhere from an hour or two four days as well. I also USUALLY like to do a 10K run (around 6.5 miles) on Saturday mornings. I'm not a professional though, I only do amateur fights. I can easily spar a hard 10 rounds though.
Anyway, don't push yourself too much at the beginning. I'd say start working yourself up, especially if you haven't been working out recently. Start running a couple of miles per day (probably 3.5K) then get used to doing at least a 5K per day. Then just work up from there. Get yourself going at a good pace and don't worry too much about how fast your going.Comment

if you wanna work up to 15km just start at like 6 and work it up to 15. Don't worry about speed at all, just keep running. then once you know you can do the distance you can start timing your runs ect to try increase your speed and moniter improvements.Comment
