Glen Johnson didnt turn pro untill he was like 20 or something or he didnt start training until 20 one or the other, someone else can confirm this -
It's not too late. Some guys start late, and some learn faster than others.
Just know that you're at a disadvantage and you'll have to work extremely hard, and hope that you are able to learn quick.
There was one guy that David Tua beat last year named Ed Guiterrez. He trains at the same gym I do. He had about 15 pro fights or so.
Anyway, he began his pro career in his mid 30s.Last edited by Hydro; 09-17-2007, 08:33 PM.Comment

Paul Williams only had like 15 amateur fights. He started boxing when he was like 18 I think. You will be okay dude.Comment

Not too late at all! I'm 27 and I've recently been thinking of finally going pro myself. I took up boxing when I was 12, and had a few amateur fights from age 14-16, but then I stopped until I took boxing back up again in my early 20s. I've racked up more amateur fights since then, but I've known a few guys that have gone pro after barely taking up the sport! You're definitely young enough to start fighting and keep learning!

Not many people are Paul Williams though. However it isn't to late man, you can turn pro at like 23 after 3 good years of training and I guess you will have to "learn on the job".Comment
