tactics and skills that cotto needs to improves

COTTO IS A GREAT FIGHTER HE HAS SHOWN US FANS TO BE THE BEST BODY PUNCHER OF THE GAME RIGHT NOW. but cotto needs to improve some things so he could be a better boxer of what he is.

1-DEFENSE LACKING-cotto needs to keep his hands up..in many of the fights that i've watch cotto fight everytime he goes forward his right hand is always down and he gets BIG counter punches that has affected him in alot of ways even thou he has a HUGE HEART but he needs to prevents getting so many hits that makes some ppl believe that he has a suspect chin i believed he just get hit too much he needs to be ready for mosley.

2-COTTO'S UPPERCUT-he doesn't used it and is one of the most successful punches cotto trows to the face after the right hand....we all know cotto goes for the body and even if the opponent is covering the opponent stills get hurt...but i realized in the judah and malignnaggi fight that cotto's uppercut is a bad ass but he don't usually used it he uses the RIGHT HAND.so i believed his uppercut would be succesful after his signature left hook to the body.

3-COTTO'S SLOW START-could it be a game plan??? could it be so his stanima would be active during round 8 and forward??? what i believed is that cotto need to apply pressure since round 1 i realized that everytime i see a round 1 fight of cotto..cotto acts if he wants to taste how strong his opponent is to maybe have a plan to destroy him but i believed with cotto strength he would not have to last 12 rounds if he applies what he need to improved.

OTHER WISE THERE'S NOTHING ELSE WITH COTTO SKILLS I THINK HE IS AN AMAZING FIGHTER THAT JUST KEEPS CLIMBING THE LADDER TO GREATNESS AND AS A FAN I HOPE WE SEE THAT SAME DESIRED ON NOV 10.

yea, the main thing i think he needs to improve on is his defense a little bit, better head movement and whatnot.. as for a slow starter, that's not necessarily a bad thing, he wears his opponents down throughout the course of the fight.. julio cesar chavez was a slow starter, same with ricardo lopez, all in all, i'm a huge cotto fan and i think he's a great fighter

The major thing he needs to work on is obviously his defence as it is basically no existant.
Also he if trained useing his right hand alot more instead of just useing his left then he would be alot more succesful and wouldnt be as one dimensional.

i don't really consider miguel cotto one dimensional its just that not in all fights he use it on the torres fight cotto was kicking ass with the right hand but he does need to keep consistent on both of his hands.

He's gotta keep that left hand glued to the chin.
Improve the balance...stop just going southpaw when you criss cross your feet.

          ...that's about it. He's a destroyer.

I never thought of him as a slow starter. It looks that way because he always does well late, but thats because he wears his opponents down.

I dont know how he can improve his defense without sacrificing offense. He's short with short arms. He's forced to lunge into dangerous spots in order to cause punishment. I've never seen Cotto have problems on the defensive. Only when he's coming in. Part of having a good defense is not taking too many chances. Mayweather, Spinks, Hopkins, etc. are careful and pick their shots. Cotto is the complete opposite, and if you minimize his chances and agression then he's just not as effective.

Ricky Hatton falls into the same catagory except he uses better foot movement when coming inside. Then again Miguel has a better jab so that neutralizes that. If anything he could add better foot movement to improve his attack, and keep his hands up when he lunges in. Sometimes he leaves himself too vulnerable as seen in the Judah, Corley, Torres fights.

i would not fool myself with his reach and height but good point.

                  Clinching.

And I don't particularly find Cotto to be a slow starter.

its a shame because people dont have time for cotto now after just 1 loss.

i think cotto should clinch more to conserve energy, he could have lasted longer against marg if he clinch and move when marg gets too close. nothing wrong with doing it a bit.
