Yeah, well, GREATBritain would be speaking German if it weren't for the ordinary U.S.A. saving your ass from big, bad daddy Hittler. Don't you forget that, either.
THE most incorrect statement in world history. I'm sick of hearing it. like it or not, The Soviets were the saving grace not the USA.
Oops! BPP said the same thing a few posts up, glad to know there are some intelligent people on here who don't digest the latent propaganda that the mainstream media feeds us.
Actually I think Russia saved the asses of both GB and America, so all hail the Klitschkos!
Actually, it was mother nature coupled with Hitler's arrogance and failure to listen to his advisors/military generals. What kept Russia from falling into German hands (which came much, much closer than most people think it did, there's a book out about it called "The Greatest Battle" by Andrew Nagorski - I suggest you read it when you get a chance as it talks all about how Stalin was just about to run away when he realized the weather in September had saved his ass. The reason it's not remembered is because Soviet Russia actually has suppressed real history in order to conserve their pride).
You will remember that Hitler decided to send his troops into Russia in the summer with ONLY summer uniforms and supplies. He then ignored his generals about taking Moscow quickly and decided to take a detour and take Ukraine first. This delay actually allowed Stalin to reposition his troops after he learned from a Japanese spy that Hitler had asked Japan not to invade Russia from the East so that Hitler would have all the glory of taking down Russia. His arrogance, failure to listen to the experts, poor timing, and the worst winter in Russian history is what saved the Russians (and all other European countries).
Don't attribute what Hitler did to himself to Stalin or Russia, please. I'm sorry to have to change the subject to history, but you people seemed to be ill informed.

Read what I just posted, buddy. Also, if it weren't for the US and their invasion of France from the English Channel (D-Day), the British Isles would've fallen in less than three months. Read your history books again, bro.
I also suggest you read the book I just mentioned as it will show you that what history has recorded is only the cleaned up version.
And, of course, we've still been paying financially for the oh so generous US military finally deciding to nail their colours to a mast until just last year.
Anyway, common consensus amongst war historians is that the Western front would have ground to a stalemate (with held gains) without Hitler's folly to the east. An island is a bugger to try and occupy.
Napoleon, Spanish Armada or Hitler couldnt take this little Island. No one ever will.
It wasnt the americans or the russians that helped win the war. it was little ol us when we took the fight to them after they invaded poland. We were there for the long haul, the U.S sat back and waited for us to do the ground work whilst Germany and Russia were discussing who was going to have which parts of eastern Europe before the Ego's got the better of them and they started fighting eachother. Bit late for the Russians and Yanks to come and help out now. We would have finished the job on our own. OK it would have taken longer but we would have won.
The "great" Brits have always been underestimated by the so called SuperPowers, a bit like the Iraqis, Vietmanese and Japs. Americans are only good at killing eachother, either on their own doorstep or with "friendly fire".
Clay, Robinson, Lacy and McClellan all looked good until they come over the pond and got found out against are so called bum champions.
no wonder america wants to keep boxing on home soil. A bit like their Army, they boxers dont travel well. Probably why Curry bottled fighting Honeyghan at Wembley and Tyson bottled coming over to fight Lewis and Williams, but they forgot our boxers do travel well, like our Army. Just ask the Germans, French, Spannish and Argies.
I think stats show the Brits have only lost one war, to america in america. Probably a contraversial Don King decision. We've gone all round the world and won numerous titles
Whats America's war record....lost in Vietname, changed the rules of war in Japan so they could win. The jury is out in Iraq !!

If you truly believe that the Brits would've been able to handle Hitler without the help of the US, you must have the IQ of a British Bulldog. It was the US that kept Britain supplied while they hid out on their island and tried to stay away from Germany as much as they could. They were appeasers until Hitler decided that he wanted to take over. Don't you forget that.
BTW, Vietnam wasn't a war, and neither is Iraq. Congress never formally declared war, they're just bellicose engagements. Just like Britain had with India when it lost the biggest chunk of land they ever had.
