Joe Cal seems like the most popular Brit fighter right now, but that's an observation made from across the pond. Geez, everytime I see him fight they got those English soccer hooligans going crazy...Comment

Hatton is by far the most popular, Calzaghe was helped out because his last few fights were on mainstream TV. Calzaghe doesn't have many so called "football" fans, Wales is more of a Rugby nation. You might have them muddled up with Hatton fans

I think the brits love a character more than a loser. They also like an underdog, and Eddie Edwards with his unfortunate name and goggles attached with string really summed up the image that all British people secretly have of themselves: Of the nation that melted down gates and railings to make ammunition and weapons and stand up against the might of the **** war machine...Comment

One of my best friends is English. I know the English. Eddie Edwards is NOT the image that all Brits secretly have of themselves. LOLI think the brits love a character more than a loser. No but he represents it. He's the guy who is standing up to the world's elite with string to hold his goggles on. He's the little chap who is not backing down to the school bully. Even in the face of overwhelming odds he's damn well giving it a go, he's the British leiutenant at Rorke's Drift, he's one-armed one-eyed Nelson bording a French first rate, for crown and country he's giving his all, win, lose or die.
Or something. No I certainly wouldn't want to be like him... Even the English would really like to be winners.Comment
