Is it possible for a boxer like Malignaggi to work over several years on technique and weight training to gain some decent punching power and still maintain the majority of his speed?

i think magic man should just stick to what hes good at and thats being him self and boxing, if it aint broke dont fix it -
This is a true statment but it doesnt mean that a boxer cant develop better technique that leads to better power. In Malignaggi's case his hands have given him some problems in the past forcing him to change his technique to compensate and if he can overcome that problem for sure he could develop more pop.Comment

Technique can make his punchers stronger, true power is something that you are born with though, why the hell do you think Tito hit so hard (his wraps could have been the case but that is an entirely different subject).Comment

Paulie seems to carry alot of weight in his lower body. He is built alot like Pernell Whitaker. Many guys like that don't seem to carry much power. Not sure why.
By contrast, the guys who are built like Uncle Roger or Tommy Hearns get a lot of leverage on thir punches.Comment

i really dont even think paulie is a natural 140, he looks like eh could shed some of that muscle that is pointless and fight at 130, he would have decent power at that weight. he reminds me alot of camacho.Comment

Ya know, Ty. That's a good point. i had not even thought of that.
Paulie looks no smaller than Juan Diaz. I bethcha that paulie could still make the lightweight limit of he tried.
SFW may be a stretch... but he can shoot for LW.Comment
