It’s been said at the end of each of his 18 pro fights “the winner by knockout, Tyrone Brunson”. That’s astonishing enough, but the reason for the article is to alert you that all 18 knockouts have been in the 1st round, tying a record for a knockout string from the beginning of a career. Edwin Valero accomplished the record first in 2006 and has since earned the WBA Super Featherweight title. [details]

I'll repost a reply I made when Brunson signed with DKP:
Before anyone starts with the Valero comparisons, and judging by the response to this thread no one will--but nevertheless, let's take a look at the respective resumes of Valero and Brunson's first 18 opponents (all KO1 or TKO1 victims):
Valero's opponents' combined record: 116-94-6
Brunson's opponents' combined record: 61-93-8
Valero's opposition included the solid if not spectacular Esteban de Jesus Morales and a WBA super featherweight eliminator against Whyber Garcia.
Bronson has faced six guys who were making their pro debuts...Valero faced none (though he did face five guys who were winless as a pro).
Bronson has faced one guy with a winning record, Valero faced nine.
Anyway, I am not out to slam the guy, I was just looking him up because his record definitely piqued my interest. He is someone to keep an eye on regardless of his level of competition, because you still have to be very strong to knock out 18 fighters out in the first round in your first 18 fights. Kudos, and a solid, low-risk signing for DKP. -
Guess the post above me solves a lot of problems, none the less I think a guy with 18 straight knockouts should fare prettty well in the 154 pound division, unless he faces someone that exposes him.Comment

Cory Spinks or Vernon Forrest are slick enough to avoid the big punch IMO. They could certainly expose a first round knockout artist.Comment

He may be the real thing but if your chasing a record that means **** all and your fighting bums in your 19-20 fight then he's proberly getting a padded record so he can challenge a bum champion win a title and then get a good payday to get a beating from a true champ like forest, then after that repeat the process of fighting bums and making big paydays loosing to big fighters.
but hey he may be the greatest puncher of all time and is just taking his career slowly so he dont end up taking a horendous beating in a fight he should have never been matched in.Comment
