Knockout Artist Tyrone Brunson Signs With Don King

    *********.com

Super middleweight knockout artist Tyrone “Young Gun” Brunson (18-0, 18 KOs) contacted ********* to say he has inked a three-year deal with Don King Promotions. Philadelphia’s Brunson, currently sitting at 18 first-round knockouts to begin his career (matching the world record held by WBA Super Featherweight Champion Edwin Valero) says he’s happy to be part of the King promotional family and has been assured he’ll be taking on big-name opponents in the near future

Looks like Don has got a new young fighter that can make him alot of $$$,i think its a good move for Brunson

Before anyone starts with the Valero comparisons, and judging by the response to this thread no one will--but nevertheless, let's take a look at the respective resumes of Valero and Brunson's first 18 opponents (all KO1 or TKO1 victims):
        Valero's opponents' combined record: 116-94-6
        Brunson's opponents' combined record: 61-93-8

Valero's opposition included the solid if not spectacular Esteban de Jesus Morales and a WBA super featherweight eliminator against Whyber Garcia.

Bronson has faced six guys who were making their pro debuts...Valero faced none (though he did face five guys who were winless as a pro).

Bronson has faced one guy with a winning record, Valero faced nine.

Anyway, I am not out to slam the guy, I was just looking him up because his record definitely piqued my interest. He is someone to keep an eye on regardless of his level of competition, because you still have to be very strong to knock out 18 fighters out in the first round in your first 18 fights. Kudos, and a solid, low-risk signing for DKP.

His record is bull****. He flew out to New Zealand and knocked out two bums IN THE SAME WEEK, only to match Valero's record. One guy was making his pro debut and the other was 18-21

I think he's padding up his record so he can get bigger paydays quicker and before he's found out. If he is the real deal though he willmake an interesting adition to the richly talented smw division.

In the article it said he was moving down to 154 and he could make that weight class interesting, but the opponents records kind of worries me. I mean it's obvious he's got power, but once he steps up in competition we'll find out if he's for real or not.

I liked Brunson when he first started, but much like what happened to Valero prior to fighting for the title, gunning for this streak is already beginning to **** with his skill level. The best thing - or perhaps the worst thing, depending on his mental makeup - is for this streak to end and for Tyrone to return to basics.

Also, unless King can find a way to market him, I don't see him joining DKP as a positive move. King can move a true star, but has wasted many a career over the years. Tim Austin, anyone?

Time for a bunch of fixed fights and robberies, until Brunson eventually gets knocked out by an unknown journeyman.

                    Oh wait, it already happened.
