Nah, he was British. People didn't dislike him for that reason though.

Admittidly he did talk with a ****ing Canadian accent sometimes, fly a Jamaican flag.. but in truth he fight for England, dedicated his fight to the Queen in the jubilee year..

The reason he was never hugely popular in England (in comparison to Bruno, Hatton, Prince Naz) was that he was quiet and untalkative and pretty uncharismatic.

Plus for me, he beat Bruno! and Bruno was, and still is today Britains favourite heavyweight ever.
