His arms look small, like he hasn't been taking his steroids. He obviously doesn't have a Fernando Vargas level of commitment to ruining his life to try to succeed at boxing.

he is a very nice humble guy... if his head doesn't grow like Vargas' did, he should be fine and will do alot more damage than Vargas (in the ring that is).

Funny, I thought the same thing watching him fight last night. Particularly with his leg movements...he got that slight bow legged stance that Vargas has.

Ortiz is definitely gonna be a champion someday, i hope they dont bring him up TOO quick like they did to Vargas. He looked good in his last fight.

A lot of people seem to make this comparison, but I really don't see it. They're both from Oxnard and have some similarities, but if I were Vic, I'd actually find it insulting that someone was hailing me as the next Fernando Vargas.

If anything, I see Vic going on to accomplish everything that Fernando's handlers and supporters hoped of their guy. Though in order to do that, he'll eventually need to learn how to block a straight right with something other than his face.

As for being rushed - Cameron Dunkin is one of the best managers in the sport. He's excellent at assessing talent, and determining who should be properly brought along, and who should cash out early. If Vic were to be rushed to the tap, it'd have happened already. Cameron and Top Rank have done an amazing job of bringing him along. The Emmanuel Clottey came at the perfect time in his career, and he's now ready to move to the next level - Top 10-20 competition.

I like Vic a lot and see him going far, which is great news for the 140 lb. division, one in desperate need of a full-time leader.
