I saw Calzaghe's book being sold in London last time I went there. perhaps thats why hes a bit more famous, or maybe hes just higher regarded by the British. I really cant say, myself...
and it was actually easier to find a boxing magazine there than in America, which I was very happy to read through while I was waiting for the flight out.

ricky is from manchester which is more or less the north of england. joe has had his fights on terrestrial tv where as ricky is on cable/satelite thus joe is more than likely getting a bigger audience.
although most sports fans will know of ricky hatton im sure. although the general public here are way into football (soccer). boxing isnt really that big here since nigel benn, eubank, prince naz and even frank bruno. so i would say 6 years of quietness until joe had his fight with lacy, which has got some people speaking about it again.
