Theres more important things in life such as the fact we will be in the middle of the football season and Manchester City have started well.
If Mayweather wins then so be it but I can't see him winning, even if he was training full time.
Either way you will find out how good both fighters really are after this fight as imo they are the 2 best p4p in the world right now

What did he do to YOU?

Im just tired of seeing him run from his opponents. We paid to see a fight. Step forward and fight. Please the fans a little. The DLH PBF fight was dissapointing and IMO not so good for boxing. This was the biggest PPV in Boxing and the outcome was DLH chasing his running ass the whole night long. He said he would go toe to toe with DLH. He didn't deliver. He ran the whole fight and left the casual fans bored. He still had alot of gas in the tank at the end of the fight. He could have taken much much more and still not have been in trouble. He's just a scary overly conservative punk.

Are you saying that because you lose to the best means that you can't STILL be overrated?

This "P4P best" happens to be training four or five hours per day for a couple of months for a dance competition. Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith and Holyfield said that the dance training was physically demanding. I believe that those gentlemen know a bit about working out.

It has been said that this would be Floyd's toughest fight. And that was BEFORE 'Dancing'. Ricky will be focused on PBF full-time. I think the timing is ****ty for PBF. Not good judgment from a boxing standpoint. (Good exposure, however).

If FMJ's 4 hour/day part-time job doesn't give Ricky an advantage, what would? Would Roach let MannyPac do it?

I guarantee you that Lennox didn't work 4 hours/day for the ten seconds of screen time in O-11.

Man you really are a PBF hater. Now granted I cant stand the "Thug Life" wanna be **** but damn, the dude was all nice and cuddle (maybe not so cuddly) for years and real boxing fans are the only ones who noticed. Now he gets hard-core and is getting paid. I aint mad at em. He did what he had to do. B-hop was a villian far worse than PBF and he flipped it after he won his big fights and got paid. For you to say Floyd ran against Oscar is a joke. He didn't tell Oscar to stop throwing punches. He didn't tell Oscar to get scared of the power and overwhelming speed. He didn't tell Oscar to go Flatbush style and throw da windmill punches like a 12 year old girl. Oscar chose to do that stuff. He almost got KOed in da 5th and was stunned on various occassions! Watch da fight again and tell me if I'm lyin. If Castillo can get to Floyd and get him on the ropes and land someblows, your tellin me that Oscar couldn't? Castillo is supposed to be better than Oscar? **** no!!! Just because you dont like someone as a person aint got **** to do with their skills. Keep it real. Their aint a better p4p fighter out their than PBF. No one is close. If you can find one with better overall offense, defense and ring smarts then let the world know. My boy Pacman is 2nd but his defensive kills it for me. He may be my favorite fighter but I aint gonna be crazy and say he's better than PBF P4P. That would be irresponsible.

          P.S.
If you got problems wit him dancin wit da stars just remember that RJJ played basketball games before fights at times and still dominated. Besides, if you think PBF is a coward then and Hatton can beat him then this will only help you get your wish. But in all reality if he was really a coward and scared of Hatton I dont think he would be doing a reality show during training for the fight. I could be wrong though.

            1) Why would he fight someone else's fight when the objective is to "win first, entertain second"? That would be just ******.

            2) Have you seen Mayweather fights when he fights guys his own size? Did he "run"... or was he an aggressor?

            3) IMO, he didn't run. Andre Dirrell runs. Oscar ran vs Trinidad. Spinks ran vs karmazin. PBF boxed. Big difference. "Stepping forward" is not the only way to fight, ya know.

            4) PBF will always have alot of gas in the tank. That is just his conditioning. He has gas left after EVERY fight. He just happens to be a fifteen round fighter.

            5) I don't believe that it is appropriate for YOU to call a pro boxer a "coward" or a "punk". Any boxer who steps into the ring with a guy who is trained and capable of knocking him out deserves a measure of respect.

We will be in the heart of the American football (NFL) season here. Football > Boxing.

So this Dancing fiasco should bring some more attention to the sport/bout, and broaden PBF's exposure to a new audience.

                A bit more info....

ED GRANEY: Mayweather to attempt unique 1-2 combination

                ED GRANEY

Leonard Ellerbe predicts it will create the closest thing we have to a real-life Superman. Forget that. Clark Kent couldn't hold Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s pair of leather Capezios today.

What's so great about X-ray vision and the ability to fly when you can train for the Foxtrot one minute and a mega-fight the next?

It happened. Mayweather has evidently discovered a physical challenge even he might be stretched to conquer. The world's best boxer and his sport's most conditioned athlete is expected to be among those celebrities included this morning when ABC announces its cast for a fifth season of "Dancing with the Stars."

Think about it: The show premieres Sept. 24 and its finale is scheduled for Nov. 27, which will make things fairly compelling should Mayweather follow other athletes/dancing winners such as Emmitt Smith and Apolo Anton Ohno and make the finals.

Less than two weeks later, there is a little matter of Mayweather opposing Ricky Hatton at the MGM Grand Garden in a fight of two undefeated champions.

Which makes you wonder what concerns the Mayweather camp most: A grueling dance regimen in Los Angeles that could overlap as much as five weeks of training preparations for Hatton or someone from ABC seeking a live interview with uncle and trainer Roger Mayweather, an FCC violation waiting to happen.

Nobody seems too worried about the former.

"I have been working on making this happen for a long time because the show is something Floyd has always wanted to do," said Ellerbe, the fighter's adviser. "He loves a challenge, and this is the ultimate one. Floyd is a terrific dancer, but he knows absolutely nothing about ballroom. He's the first to admit it. But we never talk about losing at anything. There is no such thing as second place to Floyd.

"Emmitt was great in winning the competition in (season three). But this isn't the same thing. This would have been like him dancing on the show while also preparing to play in the Super Bowl. Floyd is in this to win. He will push himself to the limit physically both dancing and training to fight Ricky Hatton on Dec. 8. When Floyd wins the dance competition and then beats Hatton, people will talk about it for years and years. This is history."

                This is also risky.

You can't buy the exposure of a nationally televised audience of more than 20 million weekly. It's a marketing dream for Mayweather. But most of the athletes who have competed on the show (Smith, Ohno, Jerry Rice, Clyde Drexler) have been retired, and another (Evander Holyfield) just doesn't realize he should have remained that way. They were able to train as dancers for hours a day and then fall asleep. Mayweather gets to train hours a day to dance and then, well, train several more hours those days to fight.

He might have the desire, but will he have the legs?

Boogying at Pure or with an employee or 10 at Spearmint Rhino is one thing. Learning the tango and waltz and pasodoble is another.

Hatton will spend his time in England concentrating solely on how to crack Mayweather's prodigious defensive style. He will eat, sleep, drink (Lord knows what) and think only about Dec. 8.

Mayweather will spend part of his time learning the difference between promenade and guapacha while posing in the mirror not to admire his physique following a boxing workout but to correct his posture for the samba.

One thing is for sure: Difficult as the process might be, he won't lose focus.

Ellerbe said the fighter has begun working with his professional partner for the show, Karina Smirnoff. If you have seen her, you won't be surprised if there is nothing defensive about Mayweather the dancer.

"The first day they met, Floyd walked in and said 'You're the boss. I'm the student. I'm here to learn,' " Ellerbe said.

Thing is, he could win. He has the charisma. The personality. You figure he has a far better chance at charming the voting public more than other reported celebrity contestants such as Wayne Newton, Lou Ferrigno, Jane Seymour and Mark Cuban.

But he could have his hands full with Aaron Carter, one of those annoying boy-band/dancer types who, as much as we can gather, is best known for proposing to a former Playboy model onstage at the Palms and then breaking things off a week later. That, and the fact he looks like someone named Jesse McCartney.

"(Mayweather's) work ethic as an athlete should be an advantage," said Laura Holt, a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Las Vegas. "Being in that kind of shape will make it easier for him. It won't be a walk in the park. It will be hard training. But if he has a lot of self-confidence, it will definitely help him."

If that's all Mayweather needs to win, boy-band guy should quit now.

Ed Graney's column is published Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. He can be reached at 383-4618 or egraney@reviewjournal.com.

Mayweather doesn't even have to win, if he lasts several shows millions of people will be watching him and wanting to see him fight just from knowing his name. This will def. make him into more of a mainstream star.

Hatton may lose, but no way will it be by KO. If he loses it will be like the DLH fight, Hatton just won't be able to catch him. I don't consider getting hit once and then having to run after your opponent 'losing bad'. I consider a KO losing bad.
