Judging by the way lewis fought his fights (as well as skills) after beating mccall the second time around, do you think he could have beaten mccall even if mccall hadn't had the nervous breakdown?? personally I don't thinks so cuz mccall had a style that lewis could never overcome no matter how hard he tried, not to mention he a combination of an iron chin and a powerful right hand to go with it, If mccall wasn't feeling ****faced, he probably could have knocked him out in the second fight as well.
could Mccall have beaten lewis in the second fight??

mccall would always be difficult for lewis. i noticed in the second round when mccall was coming forward and throwing punches lewis looked very uncomfortable and very nervous, lewis could not hurt mccall and it seemed from what i saw that he couldn't keep mccall on the end of his jab like he could with many opponents. It would have been a very exciting fight but mccall shouldn't have been in the ring he was in no mental state.Judging by the way lewis fought his fights (as well as skills) after beating mccall the second time around, do you think he could have beaten mccall even if mccall hadn't had the nervous breakdown?? personally I don't thinks so cuz mccall had a style that lewis could never overcome no matter how hard he tried, not to mention he a combination of an iron chin and a powerful right hand to go with it, If mccall wasn't feeling ****faced, he probably could have knocked him out in the second fight as well. -
No, I dont think so.
Lewis took McCall way to lightly in the first fight and got knocked out.
He was in a different league to McCall in ability so the second fight would have ended in the same result regardless of McCall's mental stability.Comment

yeah but if you watch the fight in the first 2 rounds before mccall had that break down he was giving lewis trouble and lewis didn't have the power to hurt him. lewis is clearly better than mccall but i do think mccall style would give him trouble. I don't fully buy this lewis took mccall lightly he was ranked as the number one contender by the wbc wba and ibf and had a good reputation before going in with lewis.Comment

Ah, Oliver McCall, the great never was. I think Lennox Lewis would have won that second fight by a wide decision. McCall had lost the first four rounds, was out-boxed prior to his break-down. Lewis, post '94 was a better defensive fighter, more cautious, more technically sound. So no, McCall would not have stopped him again.Judging by the way lewis fought his fights (as well as skills) after beating mccall the second time around, do you think he could have beaten mccall even if mccall hadn't had the nervous breakdown?? personally I don't thinks so cuz mccall had a style that lewis could never overcome no matter how hard he tried, not to mention he a combination of an iron chin and a powerful right hand to go with it, If mccall wasn't feeling ****faced, he probably could have knocked him out in the second fight as well.Last edited by HeysusChristus; 08-25-2007, 07:07 AM.Comment

i gave mccall one round and he would have caused some trouble for lewis, but i do agree that lewis would have won by UDAh, Oliver McCall, the great never was. Lennox Lewis couldn't hurt Mccall. For whatever reason, LL's punches were like pillows to OMc.
Even when Mccall started crying, Lewis was teeing off and STILL did not hurt him. Didn't even bother Oliver.
Weird.Comment
