    Bernard Hopkins-James Toney

Bernard " The Executioner " Hopkins and James " Lights Out " Toney Are Quite Possibally The Two Most Technically Proficient and Skilled Legendary Pugilists Active Today... Toney's Non-Chalantly Fluid Philly Shell Defense Is Beautiful In Toney's Ability To Seemingly Effortlessly Evade Punches and Swiftly and Powerfully Counter..... Bernard Hopkins Is Equally Impressive In His Jerky, Un-Even Brand Of Dirty Defensive Boxing That Befuddles Opposition and Results In One-Sided Boxing Lessons Against His Opponents... I Am Unsure Of Why This Fight Was Never Made Between These Two Legendary Boxers... Both Were In The Same Weight Division At The Same Time During Some Of The Most Productive Years Of Their Glorious Careers... Who Would Have Won This Bout In the Early To Mid 1990's and Why Did It Never Happen???...... AND If It Was Possible For Both Fighters To Meet At Some Sort Of Catch Weight Today, Who Would Take The Bout Between These Two Master Tacticians???

Well back then it would have been before Bernard abandoned his "seek and destroy" fighting style for something more technical. I think Toney would have beaten Hopkins if they fought back in the day. If they fought today at some sort of catchweight I'd give the edge to Hopkins, he's become a masterful tactician and amazing counterpuncher since abandoning his old style.

Plus I think Hopkins would get used to gaining another 10-15lbs easily with Mackey Shilstone on his team, easier than Toney would adjust to losing the weight anyway. Toney I doubt would adjust to the weight very well with his slow style.

Thats too bad say around 10 years ago they didnt fight. I would say James Toney wins at 175 in the 90s. If they fought today Hopkins would win on cards.
