    2007 fight prediction thread

    Vargas vs Mayorga

Can't pick a winner... It is whoever is in worse conditioning. I could guess Vargas will be but Mayorga has been known to come in on drugs.

    JMM vs Juarez
JMM by a mile, UD. Damn promoters letting Juarez fight on PPV again... I hope this PPV flops big time.

    V. Klitschko vs Mccline

    Klitschko KO in 9

    Taylor vs Pavlik

Heart goes to Pavlik UD, brain goes for Taylor UD. I just can't see Taylor laying on the floor or so hurt it has to be stopped

    Pacquiao vs Barerra

I'm going on a limb and saying Barerra. Marco usually does so well in rematches and is so very focused. UD

    Calzaghe vs Kessler

I can't call this fight well because I haven't seen both fighters fight much... But it seems like Kessler should be busier than Calzaghe. Calzaghe seems to fight in spurts as Kessler likes to always have a glove in your face

    Cotto vs Mosley

Heart goes to Mosley, brain goes for Cotto. Mosley at his age, despite his conditioning, is probably going to have a tough time with those body shots.

    Mayweather vs Hatton

Mayweather by a mile with his supreme boxing ("running") skills. UD

I excluded a few others because I don't know them that well.

I'll take Mayorga by stoppage against Vargas.

I got Marquez to UD Juarez.

      Pavlik to KO Taylor.

      Mayweather UD over Hatton.

      Pac-man to retire Barrera.

Mosley over Cotto probably by KO.

      Calzaghe oer Kessler.

Vargas vs Mayorga!!! (could go either way, both are absolutely shot to pieces)

Klisthcko NC McCline (I can't help but to see one of these guys getting hurt mid-fight & it has to be stopped)

Juarez W Marquez (I Know Marquez SHOULD win, but in boxing nothing is concrete, & i believe Marquez will come in under-prepared & over confident)

Taylor W Pavlik (This fight could go either way, but like Jermain said finally they've given me someone who is not a southpaw & has tricky/crafty defense! Pavlik is a very good fighter but i believe Jermain should have no problems finding Pavlik (who comes to fight) & take a close decision or maybe get a late stoppage, then agian who knows???)

Maskaev W Peter (As much as i like Peter, From the original press conference Peter looks fat & out-of-shape almost bigger than i've ever seen him, Maskaev is a good techinal boxer with pretty decent stamina, I expect Peter to come out guns blazing until about the 4th or 5th round where he slows down & maskaev takes advantage & get the win!)

Barerra W Pacquiao (i think marco outboxes pacquiao this time around, the marquez fight (rd 7) showed he has the heart of a true champion)

Calzaghe W Kessler (Joe has more dimension to his game & can create many angles w/ his speed & southpaw stance)

Cotto W Mosley (Mosley doesn't have any elusiveness or foot-work! Cotto cut off the ring on quintana, Malignaggi, & judah in 3 consecutive fights, so he will have no problem finding the sugar man)

Mayweather W Hatton (Hatton swells & cuts to easy, there to be hit, also it seems like he slows down a little towards the end of fights)

            Vargas vs Mayorga
Vargas.. Bigger man, very solid punch, and an overall better boxer. Both are shot though, so anythings possible. VARGAS, by KO/TKO

            Marquez vs Juarez
Marquez.. He beat Barerra, something Juarez failed to do, twice. Not saying that makes Marquez a guarantee, however, with his overall better boxing skill snad defense. To top that off, he's able to fight in big fights, unlike Juarez who is shy on the big stage, and can't find the trigger. MARUQEZ, by close UD

            Klitschko vs McCline
Klitschko.. Though I don't really care. I wanted a unified champion, and with two successful Klitschko brothers (if both win enough) that will never happen. Though, I pick the coming back Vitali, because of his jab, height and very nice power. KLITSCHKO, by late KO.

            Taylor vs Pavlik
Taylor.. I think Pavlik could give him trouble, and maybe pull off the upset, I just think that because Taylor has fought slick fighters, his power gets underrated, becasue he cant' show it off as well against southpaws. Against a straight forward orthodox fighter like Pavlik.. I just think it'll be a different story. Could be wrong. TAYLOR, by SPLIT DECISION.

            Pacquiao vs Barerra
Pacquiao.. However, I think Barerra causes a lot of trouble, and I wouldn't be surprised if he won, at all. I think people put too much into their first fight. If you think this fight will be even CLOSE to resembling that fight, I happen to think you're crazy. But, with the power and youth on his side, with a great chin.. Pacman takes it. PACQUIAO, by late TKO.

            Calzaghe vs Kessler
Calzaghe.. He's very skilled, and has much more experience. Also, he gets up for the big fights, and this is the biggest of his career. On top of that, very good defense, and doesn't like to let the guy get the better of him. With a straight-forward, pretty basic fighter like Kessler, he's ready to paint another masterpiece in my humble opinion. CALZAGHE, by wide UD or late KO.

            Cotto vs Mosley
Mosley.. No matter who I've picked in the past, I have kept feeling wrong about it. Both have decent power. One has better combinations, one has a better body attack. However, Mosley has more experience in big fights and with fights in general. He has better speed and a better defense. MOSLEY, by SPLIT DECISION.

            Mayweather vs Hatton
Mayweather.. Mayweather is the bigger guy. Taller by an ionch or two, and has a reach advantage to speak of, too. He's also in better condition and doesn't tire, like Hatton has in his last couple of fights. Neither has a horrible chin, but if I had to pick a chin I'd go with Mayweather. The speed is Mayweathers. The power you coudl give you Hatton, aswell as the body attack, but Mayweather is elusive. I just see Mayweather putting on another clinic. MAYWEATHER, by UD or late TKO.

Vargas TKO Mayorga (lets not forget Vargas is still a far better technician than mayorga and has a decent beard, the fighters that have stopped him can all punch)

JMM UD Juarez (Juarez is building a nice resume but stacking up losses against legends at the same time)

Vitali KO McCline ( unless he is really shot which I do expect but either way think he'll beat McCline)

Pavlik TKO Taylor (we will see Taylor finally exposed against a hard punching good skilled fighter the same size as him)

Pac TKO Barrera (not as excited as I would have been a couple of years ago about this fight but should still be ebtertaining as long as it lasts....Barrera is done tho)

Calzaghe UD Kessler (Kessler is just not gonna be as effective against a crafty vet like Calzaghe, secretly hope I'm wrong tho)

Mosley TKO Cotto (I really like Cotto and his future but Mosley is going to clean house on the few weaknesses we all see in Cotto and stop him because he has the hardest punch Cotto has ever been hit with and the skill to land it until the end not just for a few rounds like Torres and Judah)
