Mayweather: "Hatton's getting punished".

I'll take the first one, and I've only been a hardcore fan since the beginning of 2007. Mayorga over Forrest.
Also, keep in mind that Raheem over Morales was the Upset of the Year, and Raheem is regarded as a very defensive fighter, so that is a case where a brawler was heavily favored over a defensive fighter.Comment

I never said a brawler is not great cuz of his style. You got it twisted.Im saying how is a brawler suppose to beat someone withthe defensive skillz as pb?was manfredy a good fighter?
was prime castillo a very good fighter?
You can't say that "a guy was a brawler, so he isn't good". Boxing history has great fighters of ALL styles. The question is who dictates the fight with his OWN style. And if you can't do that, can you change to another style and win.
Don't punish someone because of their "style".
Pernell was great. Chavez was great. Completely different styles.
Duran lured SRL into a brawl and beat him. Rematch? they fought Ray's fight and RD bailed out.
btw, Oscar did not land more than Floyd.
Chavez and pernell.I love chavez he was great puncher/brawler.....and he got his ass kicked by a defensive master.
Btw watch the fight in slow mo and tell me again.Just cuz he rolls downward withthe punch so it looks like it didnt land doesnt mean it didnt land.Comment

1. Forrest is not a defensive fighter he is a very good boxer IMO.He fell into Mayorgas plan to brawl and the brawler won.
2.IMO i dont think Morales as a brawler more of a boxer/puncher....and you just proved a point for me.The defensive fighter won.Comment

1. Forrest uses a hit and don't get hit style... seems pretty defensive to me. If fighting that way doesn't make someone defensive, than Winky Wright is the only defensive fighter I can think of.
2. The defensive fighter won, but pretty much every expert picked Morales, which I think makes the point more than just the win. If experts pick against the defensive fighter, you have to assume that a defensive style doesn't guarantee a win aginst a brawler. However, you are probably right about Morales not being a brawler though.Comment

I started this because i was tyin to tell dios ..how is hatton a come forwarded "good" brawler suppose to win vs a great defensive fighter. DIos thinks hatton is great....pfft plz he beat UK fighters to earn tha record.
I think forrest is a "boxer" more than a defensive fighter.I see defensive as a shell of the arms and gloves or very sneaky ring work for dodging punches. In the Mayorga fight he didnt seem to defensive to me.LOL!Last edited by limecush; 08-23-2007, 09:48 PM.Comment

Well he was pretty defensive in the second fight, his balance just ****ing sucks, so even when he blocked punches he went flying across the ring. I don't know how Mayorga was able to beat him the second time, but somehow he was able to land enough hard punches to get the decision, which I actually thought he deserved, but I've heard it is disputed by some.I started this because i was tyin to tell dios ..how is hatton a come forwarded "good" brawler suppose to win vs a great defensive fighter. He definately was not defensive in the first fight after getting caught with that punch that caused the first knockdown... he went right at him. Dumb, dumb, dumb.Comment
