Why Not? II: Joel Casamayor vs. Michael Katsidis

The second in a series of proposed, fairly realistic match-ups that could feasibly happen in the near future--here we have the reigning lightweight champion against the hungry, young aggressive "new Arturo Gatti" action hero.

    Why it makes sense:
    (1) Casamayor just signed with Golden Boy, who is associated with Katsidis.
    (2) The two top lightweights are tied up, Diaz vs. Diaz on October 13, and this would be a great fight to determine the challenger to the winner of that fight.
    (3) HBO would love to put on Katsidis again, but more than likely it would be an undercard fight to one of the upcoming Golden Boy PPVs, probably December 8 as the co-feature to Mayweather-Hatton.

    Why it might not happen:
With the Golden Boy-Top Rank alliance in full force, it's very possible Top Rank's David Diaz may fight Casamayor on one of these upcoming TR-GBP PPV cards, where there will be a few TR vs. GB fights as part of the cards. I suppose the November 10 card is more likely because October 6 is rapidly approaching.

Also, who knows if Katsidis' cuts will be sufficiently healed to be able to fight before the end of this year.

Either way, Casamayor/Katsidis or Casamayor/Diaz are good fights for the sport, to help further clarify the divisions. Alot of the divisions are getting cleared up as to who the one true champion is--middleweight with Taylor/Pavlik, super middle with Cal/Kess, and lightweight is coming on with Diaz/Diaz and hopefully one of these fights.

GBP might also be trying to make the Guzman / Katsidis fight since that one fell thru due to injury, but Katsidis / Casita would be a great fight.
