    How is Tua doing?

A few minutes ago I saw on boxrec that he's had a recent first round knockout victory over a guy good enough to go the distance with Sinan Samil Sam.

How did he look? 237 lbs huh? Almost as light as he was for Chris Byrd. I know the weight isn't everything (he was outclassed by Byrd after all) but maybe it shows us he's become a little bit more disciplined. Can't be a bad sign at least, right?

The point is, I've always like Tua. Nice guy, intelligent, the kind of person we need in boxing, who can bring in more casual fans. Now if Tua the athlete can catch up to where Tua the man is, we'll have one hell of a contender on our hands.

Can you say David Tua vs. Samuel Peter? A slugfest for the ages that would be, if Tua could just get his **** completely sorted out.

Spot on on your last line. It doesn't seem like he's determined enough. After all, he didn't want to fight Shannon Briggs so I have doubts if he would want a war with the likes of Sam Peter. But yeah, now that he's fighting often, is back in shape and his older weight, I really hope he's hungry enough to be champion. He's one of my favorite fighters, and I hate seeing him without a title he should have.

Tua vs. Briggs would be a great fight that is more realistic at this point in time. Tua, despite the bulky look, actually carries his punch with him into the later rounds. For that reason Briggs would be in serious trouble in the later rounds I think, especially if Tua can land that hook to the body early to weaken him. Has Briggs ever felt a hook of that caliber?

Great chin. I do remember him getting dropped & TKO'd by Felix Savon but that was a boy fighting a man.
