I understand your logic for not putting it on, because on paper its a stylistic nightmare for hatton. I do, however, feel that this bad style matchup could also be used to work against floyd. And please, Arturo Gatti got destroyed by Carlos Baldomir, and a lot of Ricky Hatton critics have been calling this Gatti-Mayweather 2. Not even close. Gatti had no shot at 147. True Ricky Hatton didn't look very great there as well against Collazo, but he beat him, and whether or not he really did win, it was close, he was sick, and took the fight on short notice. I think that is deserving of a little lattitude in criticizing his performance. He will come in this fight quicker, faster, better, more powerful, and determined than every before. It will most certainly be the best Ricky Hatton yet. If not then.....cotto-mosely fight of the year 2006Comment

This has a chance to be a blow out, much like many believe the hatton mayweather fight will be. But pavlik does have the power, and a punchers chance. I just feel that if JT sticks with his jab moves around the ring alot, pavlik won't get close enough to him to really take advantage of his power. I would put that on the can't ignore list, and move mayorga vargas up because that is going to be an absolute brawl.Comment

I'm amazed that you seem to be looking forward more to Ibragimov-Holyfield more than you are for Taylor-Pavlik or Calzaghe-Kessler.
The list was done in chronological order, not order of importance. And, to repeat, it was a subjective list that wasn't meant to exclude.
I don't want to see repeats of Baldomir-Mayweather, De La Hoya-Mayweather or Hatton's recent clinch-fests. I'd much rather see Gatti-Mayweather or something where I won't be wishing there was less clinching or more punching. As I've said before, it is an extremely important fight -- the lineal 140-pound champion against the lineal 147-pound champion -- but not only do I think it won't be aesthetically pleasing, it also comes after the first five "Can't-Miss" fights, chronologically speaking, and it also would've made an already long article even longer.I understand your logic for not putting it on, because on paper its a stylistic nightmare for hatton. Trust me, when we start getting closer, I'll be writing about Mayweather-Hatton, as will plenty of other BoxingScene writers.
I agree with you. That's up there, too. Wasn't intentionally excluding it, it just wasn't included this time around.Comment
