I know most people don't watch boxing to see a chess match with fists but some people actually appreciate it. Hopkins is a tactician in the ring and most people find the technical aspect of the sport boring, plain and simple. I freely admit his clinching against Wright was boring to the point of tears: but aside from the Wright fight and the Eastman fight, I can't think of any other times his style has bored me to tears.
Is BERNARD HOPKINS the most boring fighter in recent history?

old bernard sucks...but he aint the most boring...spinks gotta be the top boring man...
wright boring??, his fights are montonous, but far from boring...he even had a foty candidate vs vargas and one that was near with taylor, his first fight with shane was great, specially the 12th round, and shane 2 was far from boring, his fights with soliman, tito, simon, vazquez arent near boring either....Comment

not really man, technical aspects of boxing arent normally boring, Bernards version is though...he basically prevents the opponent from fighting normal and keeps it in his area of expertise, which is either way in or way out. Hes either clinching and using his tricky roughhouse shots or staying very far off, where he can dart in at the opportune moment and in the meantime back away and defend himself.
If you think of Bernard like this you can get what hes doing, and appreciate his style and fights much more. But the fact of the matter is, when theres a fight with Bernard Hopkins, not a whole lot of punches are thrown or landed because of his style. Also there is generally a lot of clinching.
Its genious really, how he fights...but sparce amounts of punches and clinching are usually what makes a fight boring, and thats a good enough reason for a lot of fans.

Hopkins is getiing old but early in his career he was the excutioner and dominated his opponents but now hes not the same but he definetly aint the most boring and if you want proof watch his early fights. Ruiz and Spinks are the most boring fighters in recent historyComment

The Winky/Hopkins fight was boring because it was two boxers fighting who dont like taking chances.
But when Hopkins fights a brawler I always find it interesting because he always ends up figuring them out and making them look bad. Tito/Hopkins.. Now that was a very interesting Hopkins fight.Comment
