I think Moore would have got him. He was not that slow and imo, would have been able to get Roy on the ropes.

Moore, also had something like 130+ knockouts, which is a good indicator of what he would have hitten Roy with.

Also. if Roy fought Holy(although holy started at Cruiser, I think) Holy would have beaten him, imo.

      Holy had excellent counterpunching skills.

If the fight is at 175 then I think the man Jones couldn't beat would be Ezzard Charles. Charles spent half his career at Light-Heavy and Ring Magazine rated him as the greatest Light-Heavy ever. Better than Moore (who Charles beat 4 times at 175), better than Foster, and better than Michael Spinks. Charles at 175 had it all: Speed, power, defence ect. It's the kind of total package that Jones, for all his blinding speed, would have terrible trouble dealing with.

Moore was a light heavyweight, while Roy's prime is at supper middleweight.
Back in those days they probably weren't as good in making weight as today, so Roy already would have got an advantage in weight at light heavy

While we are at light heavy, Michael Moorer would be a tough fight.

Getting a prime Roy on the ropes dont mean ****, he was pushed on the ropes early in several fight and he always did serious damage to the ****er till he stopped...then knocked him out

Hopkins used the tactic effectively. Towards the end of the fight he was doing that on a regular basis and getting the better of most of the last rounds. A better offensive fighter doing the same thing could have stopped him, that version of Jones was a bit green but he didn't change a whole lot in how he went about his fights from that point on.

Toney matches up terribly from a stylistic standpoint against Jones. Jones would have to make a mistake and Toney land a perfect counter. Any counter puncher, I dont like the way they match up against Jones. His mobility was and reflexes were his greatest asset you needed to be able to hurt him and pursue him, cut off the ring, get him in corners, also be ready to take some punishment.
