if lacy isn't psycholigically damaged by the loss to calzaghe, and if he completely recovers from his injury, i think he should beat miranda.

That's just it, I don't think Lacy has mentally recovered ever since the loss to Calzaghe. His fight on the Wright/Quartey undercard against Vitali Tsypko was a prime example of that. He seemed sluggish and reluctant to throw. I know this had a lot to do with his torn rotator cuff but I'm talking in the first round, prior to the tear.

It seems Calzaghe's schooling of Lacy had a significant impact on his confidence, but I hope I'm wrong because I like Lacy a lot and want to see him fighting again. If he was mentally prepared for Miranda, then I think he could take him but if he wasn't 100% confident in his ability Miranda would eat him alive.

Remember Miranda will be stronger, faster and have a better chin at 168 because he doesn't have to dehydrate down to 160.

I couldn't believe that they put a tough Russian in front of him. Bad move. He needed to feed on some busta in front of his home crowd. To remember the smell of blood (not his own), to feel like a winner again.

They should have given him someone smaller. And older. Someone on the downside like Joppy or Raul Marquez. But still a "name".

If you watched that fight, Lacy destroyed that russian in the first 3 rounds. And then his rotator cuff tore and then the fight became closer. Lacy beat him and only had one arm to do it. This fight can be compared to Mayweather/Castillo when Mayweather had to fight with one arm.

I did watch the fight. But at no point did I see a destruction taking place. I'll go back to it, though.

I should say the Lacy before the Calzaghe fight would KO Miranda...

I say this because I too think Lacy was damaged in the Calzaghe fight. Both physically and psychologically. The good thing about the Rotator Cuff injury is that it forced him to take a long break. A break that he probably needed. Even then an 80% Jeff Lacy should be able to beat Miranda imo.

Lets see who lacy has beaten. Lacy has fought the tough Rubin Williams, Omar Sheika, Robin Reid, and Syd Vanderpool. His competition has been far better then any opponent Miranda has beaten. Not only can Miranda not beat Lacy, but I don't even think Miranda could beat the 4 names I mentioned. I think an old ass Sheika would ko Miranda. And a prime Sheika, the one Calzaghe fought would have probably killed someone like Miranda in the ring.

In his last fight lacy was destroying vitali in the first 3 rounds, i remember he hit that russian with a right hand that moved him back over 6 feet. Only then after lacy hurt his shoulder did he start to loose it.
If lacy can recover from his injury and get over the joe lose then maybe he could win another title.
I think if he gets back to full fitness and is also fit in his mind he'll ko miranda worse than pavlik did.

Just a guess on my part but I don't think Miranda's going to be the same fighter after that beating at the hands of Pavlik. I hate to be the pessimist because Miranda's story is so heartbreaking and I would love to see him succeed..but he's moving up in weight and will be facing even stronger punchers. One good shot would be enough to rattle Edison, not just physically but mentally. But hey I could be wrong and he may just find his groove at this higher weight. Best of luck to him.
