Cotto: "It's time to get serious"

    Thursday, August 16 2007

WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto said today,"...it's the perfect time in my career to fight Sugar Shane Mosley." Cotto, 30-0 and coming off a brilliant performance and victory over a rugged, determined Zab Judah, said "It's time to get serious, get to work, be with my team and put the right kind of game plan together. I am looking forward to a great fight that will surpass the excitment of my last one at Madison Square Garden. I will train hard, like I always do, and be prepared." Cotto said he will train in Puerto Rico. His uncle and chief trainer, Evangelista Cotto, will put together and supervise a training program. Promoter Bob Arum told fight writer Franklin McNeil of the Newark Star-Ledger."...a win over Mosley, who is a great fighter, takes Miguel to a new level." Cotto vs. Mosley 'Fast & Furious' will be promoted by Golden Boy and Top Rank. It's scheduled for November 10 at Madison Square Garden and will be available on HBO Pay Per View.

Its going to be the biggest fight of Miguel's career. Then if he wins the DLH fight will be the biggest of his career. Then if he wins Mayweather will be the biggest fight of his career.

Doesn't look like he will be getting a break anytime soon.

This is gonna be some fight! I don't know though, I like Cotto, I like Mosely...I don't know who to pick or root for! I'll probably end up rooting for Cotto in the end though since he's younger and could still offer boxing a lot of big fights! Mosely is at the end of his career, even though he showed in the Collazo fight that at welterweight he's still world-class, I think he's got this fight and maybe one or two more at the most.

Good fight, but i want Mosley to win. A man his age to fight someone that young, you have to have respect for it.
