quick stoppages thirty years ago?? I THINK NOT >> REFEREE's ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT..

we all complain monthly on this site about at least one quick stoppage these days, it happens a lot, sometimes in main events, sometimes at the worst part in the fight, or the best part... but either way . my question is... was there quick trigger stappages like this twenty - thirty years ago when the old skewlers were around. naw guys got knocked out ****in dead.

and ive seen lots of names who died from bouts in the past.. but i see very little these days, unless i never see the facts.. but if it is true, and i see it all, then the quick stoppages surve the sport of boxing a good purpose in that sense. it will protect the human beings who participate in the sport..

compare the amatuers, the referees take points without warnings and give guys standing 8 counts based on what THEY think, thats only one opinion, out of the hundreds who watch the fight...

that has a lot in common with how one opinion in a pro title fight can say a stoppage was quick, or it was justified...

but in the end, the stoppages and all the most important decisions in fights are made by one person.. the REF... anyone these days can become a referee for boxing, i think there should be some qualifications or at least like a back up resume of previous involvement in boxing.. somehow. or at least make the classes to pass pretty hard.. i hope its like that.. the comissions around the globe need to really unite on that one simple thing, to make the sport of boxing a whole lot better...

its sad when the top of the line boxing ppv has some deadbeat refs
what does that tell you ?
there isnt enough passionite, true boxing fan refs in there, who are great at what they do. i hope something is done about this in the next years, and thats why i made this post.

comment back if u agree or disaggree, its all good, im here to talk boxing. and this is my belief

I feel you man. I do think referees will continue to be more and more handcuffed as time goes on by the commission. Truth is though the fights may be stopped "early" but no more sad stories like ALi and Quarry etc... Or less sad stories at least. On another note poor gatti.....Dont want to see him in 20 years.
