      Jones vs Trinidad

Im actually glad this fight was made b/c it puts RJJ's name back in the spotlight after being off the radar for the past couple yrs. I was never one to feel roy's skills had deteriorated as opposed to he & his camp being guilty of bad decision making by taking on tarver following the ruiz fight. There's no way he should have come down from HW to LTHW in the same year. That sort of drastic weight loss (which Im sure was mainly muscle) would have depleted a younger fighter let alone someone who was already in his mid 30s. After the ko loss to tarver during the 2nd fighter, his confidence took a hit but at no pt did I feel his skills were diminishing (even if the hand speed & reflexes had shifted a bit, he was still faster than the majority of boxers in the sport..esp at 175). After giving his body time to recover as well as having gained some confidence w/ his last 2 wins (keep in mind..most boxing pundits picked hanshaw to win against jones. he was younger, undefeated, & had a good trainer in mayweather, sr) I see remnants of the old, confident roy jones. He's moving better (although I think his trainer needs to get him to stay off the ropes more..I was never a big fan of the rope-a-dope even if you manage to block a good majority of punches..you're still putting yourself in harms way against good punchers who wont tire as the fight progresses). I watched the hanshaw bout, and jones couldve finished him off after that knockdown (with an impressive 3 punch combo off the ropes that U needed instant replay to fully see). He's still a bit tentative, but if he moves, uses his hand speed & lets those combo's go..he can give tito a serious thumping. Trinidad was excellent at 147 & 154, but I dont think he took his power to 160 (after watching him against B-hop & winky). Combine the fact he will have not fought in almost 3yrs come fight night, I seriuosly question whether he'll have the stamina & sharpness to deal w/ RJJ over the course of a 12 rd bout. Unlike some, I dont think roy has a shaky chin (its not the best..but its def not the worst in the sport). At 170, which isnt tito's natural wgt class, I dont see him being able to hurt someone who's fought at 175 for half his career not to mention he was able to take hits from ruiz at HW w/ no prob.

Unless sumthin' dramatic happens, I see Trinidad taking loss numero tres & going back into self imposed exile.

I hope Tito gets KO, why does he feel the need to try and steal the spotlight from Cotto when Miguel is know entering the BIG fights. Nobody wants to see two fighters past their primes fight at least not PPV material, who'll pay for that fight?

It still amazes me how people keep talking about Tito's amazing power years after that illegal handwrapping incident. Tito hasn't won a fight against a legit 160 pounder since he got schooled by Hopkins. Sure, he beat Mayorga @ 160, but Mayorga isn't a natural 160 pounder and had absolutely no breath left in him after the opening rounds.

If RJJ's camp makes sure Tito's hands are wrapped properly before the fight, there's absolutely NO chance Tito can win.

BTW, someone just mentioned a Cotto-Trinidad fight at a catchweight of 152, that would be the perfect fight for both fighters

Tito and Jones is going to be a big fight because of their past performances. But this is a gigantic mismatch of legendary epic preportions. I second the motion made by someone else that Tito should just trim down and take on Cotto, because alot of people have been saying that its mostly jealousy that is making him get back in the ring... He was the hero of PR but now the new guy came in and is lighting it up. I also feel that he is feeling alittle threatened but shouldnt.
