Its a mental thing once you step inside the ring you gotta focus all that sparring you do in the gym doesnt comapare once you step inside the ropes and you see your opponent

being mentally prepared is important and is something that can be developed in time.

...but having a chin that isn't made of glass is even more important, and that's something you cannot get from training lol

          I think it's
50% - physical (conditioning, training, etc.)
25% - mental (heart, confidence, etc.)
          25% - talent and skills

mental can **** up your training( can make you lazy to do it for example) and it can **** up your conditioning.Cause if you're scared of the guy mentally when you get in the ring,it could make you tired quickly and throwing wildly to get you even more tired. And the fear factor can **** you up mentally to think clear to use your skills in a match thats not going well for you. It all goes back to mental.

I think its even more then that because if your not there mentally, ur only gonna win fights where your the heavy favorite.

Thats why Bautista is gonna be fighting bums for a year or so, because he needs that to build up his confidence again and be mentally prepared for a greater challenge

There's nothing you can do about taking a punch though.

Some people have the ability to withstand punishment to the mouth, some people simply can't. There are thousands of variables involved with that.

Yeah when ppl have big loses that tend to take a year or so off.

i hear ya. but hear me out here. let's say you're a jr lightweight, have a decent boxing experience and is 101% focused to whack pac and humiliate him. do you think you can take him out with all the distractions around him? based on your theory, you have an 80% chance of beating him, right? i highly doubt that tho.

in all sports, physical conditioning is half the battle, imo. all other factors follow.
