Well that and he's real young. Only 21. He was wayyy too green to be fighting someone like Ponce right now regardless of how sloppy Daniel can be. Daniel is more calm, patient, and experienced. It's like when Daniel started bombing, Rey felt he had to bomb also even if it wasn't his intentions to immediately. Total downfall because I dunno how many can take him serious when he gets KOed in 1st round.

Ya but you can't do anything to improve your chin. For a guy whose style is heavily offensive though has leaky defense, his chin will always be a factor. Unless he completely changes his style to a more defensive based or counter puncher based like Gerry, he will always be suspectible to getting KOed by his opponent.

rey just has to not let this loss affect him,hes young and needs more time to develop but nothing can help his chin.But ponce is a very sloppy boxer but agressive, if only gerry had power ponce would have been out of their.

ive only seen him fight a few times, but thats the exact impression i got when i saw him those few times.


he's a solid technical fighter with stiff punches, but i couldnt imagine him bein able to take some real shots.

This is about as exposed as you can get. Probably going to set him back a couple years, but he is young enough that he could overcome it and still be a champion at a fairly young age.

I'm a believer that such a loss can eventually be helpful in a young fighter's career. Better to happen at this point than to be protected until your 31 and have it happen then, as it did to Darchinyan.
