I think Boom2x should have a very aggressive sparmate to improve his defence. As we know he sparred most of his time with Gerry P. which is wrong , because Gerry is a counter puncher and not an aggressive fighter unlike JPD. That's the biggest mistake that his camp made. The result of that training is very obvious. He got KOed inthe first because he didn't trained for a fighter with a killer instinct.

I wont make excuses. bautista got rocked and lost. he wasnt the better fighter tonight. period.

      HOWEVER...

there are some things i seen that i didnt like:

      1. he was too nervous...even for his first title fight.

when he was walking to the ring and once he got in the ring he looked intimidated and it seemed he asked himself, "what am i doing in this fight" before the opening bell. i think some of this was because he seen daniel's confidence of bobbing up and down in the ring...rolling his neck...looking like he's ready to knock bautista out. i dont think it scared him but i think daniel's bold confidence was overwhelming to bautista and he did begin to question his abilities.

      2. Rey almost got the fight stopped on the first knockdown by trying to get up too fast while being off balance.

most ref's would have stopped the fight.

we all seen what happened to judah vs. kystu (sp??) when he bounced back up on his feet...got weak in the knees and fell to the groud. only difference is here the ref wasnt looking the entire time (he took a look or two back at daniel) but if he did the ref would have stopped it.

i thought it was going to get stopped when he shook as he was climbing up and fell back towards the corner.

if i was the ref i would have stopped it there (due to the danger)

i think on the second knockdown it was a good call to stop the fight BUT he didnt even take a look to see if (in bautistas eyes) he was still "there" or just on (what i like to call) "fighter's outpiolet".

either way even if he let him up he would have got knocked out after.

my point is he should have stayed down (on the first knockout) and shake out the cobbwebs and get up on an 8 or 9 count...not try to show all this pride and bounce right up because you have to remember its already going to be a 10/8 round...might as well give yourself time to get back in the right state of mind.

      3. once daniel brought the fight to him...bautista abandoned his jab.

if baustita would have used his jab when daniel came on strong and used some footwork/speed he could have made it to see the second round.

either way im not making excuses. daniel did exactly what i champion would do and that is bring the fight and when you have your opening...take it...and if you have your fighter hurt...go in for the KO and that is EXACTLY what he did. smart man.

Leon wasnt that impressive in the Penalosa fight, and I underestimated him. Nice job by him. Bautista got cought by a big puncher. It happens.

              young guy
              i was at the fight
in the locker room bautista looked wayyy more nervous
              then de leon
i dont know how this could be considered "As exposed as you can get". personally i think a 12 round beating would be worse.

a 12 round beating would be much worse...

the only upside is having the ability and courage to last all 12 rounds.

i almost went to the fight...but i forgot all about it to the point it was too late for tix.

im from the bay as well...

                how were the untelevised undercards?

im from san jose i drove up there. i missed the roman upset and the gabi fight.
i came to catch AJ Banal KTFO of his opponent in the second round. cardenas was carried off in a stretcher. Banals fight was allright I felt he was in control the whole time.

                    Like I expected...

The first to land a bomb wins...

                    In this case De Leon...

Both of these fighters can knock each other out...

But Bautista is far from being exposed...yes he got a crappy chin but Ponce is a huge puncher...I wish it goes the distance for Bautista to show his punishing body shots and over all technical skills...

Anyway, this kid is young...21? He'll still be a force in the future...heck great fighters lose some...

i dont think he was nervous at all, as easy as gerry taged ponce, i think rey was as ready and as confident for this as he could be. came in confident and focused.

i mean the way he's always kept his arms apart and the fact he only fought little guys that roll over, i mean its not a shock that the first fighter he faced with a accurate straight right owns him.

watchin his fights on youtube, and he looks less impressive as he steps up in class.

tellin you though, bautista would wreck **** if he went down in weight. he could become the flip version of rafa. then he could come back up in weight in 5 years or so.
