Is Ring Generalization the most useless category to judge?

-EDIT- LMAO it's Generalship, my fault, I ****ed up on the title, was workin on somethin else at the time

"You don't need the whole ring to box, just the middle of it." - George Foreman.

**** this useless category. Nothing more than an excuse for runners. "Oh he isn't running, it's all about ring generalship."

Mother****er lands 2 punches and wins the round cuz he was moving around the ring like "omg he is such a great boxer!!!"

    **** that ****.

    It's called generalship.

    Ring Generalship.

And ring generalship is usually awarded to fighters that are good at controlling the ring, e.g. cutting off the ring.

I agree that 'ring generalization' is too a generic term. What exactly does 'ring generalization' mean?..

Boxers use whatever they can to their advantage, Foreman was powerful he didn't need to run, Ali was fast he danced around the ring, Floyd did the same but with some more running put to it and less hitting. You use what you got.

Foreman displayed ring generalship by holding the middle of the ring. Ali displayed ring generalship by using the outside of the ring. Ring generalship is the art of using your feet to help you to fight your fight, a "runner" might display ring generalship by turning his opponent and keeping moving, while a body puncher might use it by trapping the opponent against the ropes, and a puncher may use it by inducing his opponent to step forward onto punches.

1st off the word is generalship, not generalization and yes it is super important.

Its ****** for anyone to say that it doesnt mean anything. You dont have to be a boxer to control the ring generalship. Cotto has great ring generalship, Hopkins does, Winky does, and so on. If you can control the fight, set the pace of the fight, or make the other guy fight your fight then you are controling the ring generalship and I think its the most important.

Foreman is a fool for saying that. He always talks **** like that, like people are supposed to be ****** enough to just stand in the middle of the ring and trade with him. Thats B.S. He just thinks that boxing means who can go toe to toe and hit the hardest. Thats not boxing. There's many forums to it. He used his and other guys use there's.

Again, people who rip Floyd are ******. 1st off everyone acts like all they remember is Floyd's last 2 fights when he's going up against these super huge guys. In the 6 fights before that he was super Offensive and was more Offensive then his opponent. Also, why do people keep saying that Floyd just runs and pop shots? How can you win a fight like that? If a guy spends the whole round running, throwing one punch at a time, and no more then 10 per round then how can he win the fight? How can he beat the great Oscar at 154 like that? Oscar is huge, has mad skills, fought Floyd in a small ring, and still couldnt win and thats because Floyd controled the ring generalship. Very recently Cotto just came out and talked smack about how if Floyd fought him then he would be running all night but he would corner him and kill him. If thats the case then Cotto would be controling it

Ring generalship is not about controlling the ring, its about controlling your opponent. Its about being the man in charge of the action, being able to dictate when and where combat will take place.

Alot of the judges abuse this term. When two fighters land the same amount of punches, they give to the guy who moved around more. That is ****ing ridiculous. Just cuz you don't wanna ****ing move around a huge ass ring, doesn't mean you should lose.

I think boxing should be judged on clean punching, effective agression and defense.
The problem with Ring Generalship is that its abused, misunderstood and misused by todays judges.
Its not simply agression or how many punches you land.
The definition of Ring Generalship has been warped and IMO boxing is getting some BS decisions because of this and I think it needs to stop.

However, Ring Generalship in its truest form is a part of judging boxing.
