Can Calzaghe beat Hopkins?

i dont even know if calzaghe beats kessler let alone hopkins. calzaghe looks good against one dimentional fighters like lacy but the last time he fought an intelligent world class boxer was eubank 10 years ago and joe was young and eubank was a bit past it. fair enough the jury is still out on kessler but i dont think joe can fight like that any more. i know he is younger than hopkins but with his style he wont have the longevity of hopkins. i think calzaghe will hit the wall and get old over night very soon.

Calzaghe would beat Hopkins right now pretty easily; I'd say by about 8-4. Both in their primes, it would have been a hell of a fight. The result oif the Kessler fight has no bearing for me. Kessler is 27 years old and as good as he will ever be and I expect him to defeat Calzaghe and be in the debate for P4P best by late-2008. As long as Kess-Cal is a good fight, win or lose for Cal, I also expect to see Hopkins-Calzaghe next year. It's a great fight with a great hook (best at 160 in last 10 versus best at 168 in last ten) and I spoke with X before Wright who like the idea of saying he beat most of the best guys from 47-75 in his career. Cal is one of the few majors he hasn't faced/defeated.

this fight would be ugly due to clinching from both...B-hop has the ability to make his opponents punches look pitter pattery and soft...hopkins will use his head in this fight...figuratively and literally...sometimes I think Hopkins can win a round without landing a punch...he thinks outside the box when he fights, I just picture Calzaghe throwing combos while hopkins is in his shell then come in with his head or a straight right or any dirty tactic in the eye of joe's storm...if anything Joe won't see it coming since he'll be too preoccupied with his slaps...

After watching that Hopkins vs Winky fight multiple times now,i don't give Hopkins much of a chance against Calzaghe. I don't think he would get hurt bad,but i see him losing a unanimous decision.

He holds way to much and simply isn't busy enough to hang in there with a guy like Calzaghe.

lol gotta be a flat out doofus to see that as a "plus" for joe. Hopkins would exploit those soft punches too fast. He's not the type to get overwhelmed with soft punches..

We've seen the trinidad and oscar fights.

Joe to stay active with slap shots, wouldnt be wise for joe. Bernard would throw somthin sharp between those slap shots. Somthin sharp and mean.




only way joe wins this fight, is if Hopkins buckles under the UK crowd and lets his nerves get to him.

hahaha i mean seriously have u even seen calzaghe fight? Bernard wouldn't know what hit him. Hopkins about 5 years ago may of had a chance but not now, Joe throws about 1200 per fight, hopkins about 500. Hopkins doesn't have the power to stop Calzaghe he could make it a ugly fight like Bika did. Hope Joe doesn't take this fight and takes dawson if he beats Kessler.
