No way Pacman is much better fighter then when he fought Marquez the first time. He has better footwork altough its still raw, a wicked body attack, better right hand, better jab. This fight will not be a walk in the park for either and i would favor Pacman.

you're absolutely right. they don't fear each other. what they fear is losing and its consequences. normally it's the fighter's management that decides who their fighter fights and it's normally based on economic gain (reward) and chance of winning (risk factor).

so going back to pac/marquez - the right statement should be. juan's management was afraid juan fighting manny because they believed that the cost of losing was more than the $750k reward the promoter was offering and the chance of beating him was low. in short manny was perceived to be a low reward/high risk opponent for juan.

does that make sense?

If you remember the fight: JMM got floored 3x in in the 1st round. Even though JMM has better technical skills, Pac was still going forward and throwing punches and equalling the amount landed of JMM. The 1 judge with the error on the 1st round. No error, split decision win for Pac. The numerous low blows of JMM to Pac. Lederman has Pac winning 115-110 and Merchat had a close decision for Pac also. The media was split. An ass kicking does not end in controversy.

When the rematch was offered, who back out? Not Pac. As far as being the WBC mandatory challenger, remember the quarrel with GBP and Top Rank. Also, money wise, a MAB rematch make sense.

Because you floored your opponent it does not mean it will end that way. Just look at Tyson, Ponce De Leon, and other heavy hitters out there, they did not win all their fights by KO.

I agree with you that Pac got big headed. But Pac is not behind 2 weeks. He was supposed to train 8 weeks. Since he arrived already, he has 7 1/2 weeks to train for the MAB fight.
