Very sad news to report in the world of Boxing. It has been brought to our attention that Troy Harden, 22, from Melbourne, Florida has been shot and killed this morning. Police have arrested a man in connection with Harden's shooting death at the Hopkins Place Apartments.
Police were call to the scene of the crime around 5:30 a.m. after shots were fired at the Monroe Street apartment complex.
When Police searched the area they came across Sheldon Woodrow Gayle, 24. Gayle was not only in possession of unauthorized I.D. but after doing a warrants check, it was made clear to Police that Gayle was also wanted on three felony warrants. Officers immediately took Gayle into custody.
Police then identified as 22-year-old Troy Harden as the victim, who was found on Monroe Street. Harden was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time Police say they are questioning Gayle as a key person of interest.
Our Hearts and prayers go out to Family and close Friends of Troy. We here at Doghouse Boxing were blessed to have interviewed such a young and bright talent last year. Everyone on our team will all sadly and deeply miss him.
