    Opinions On This Matchup

Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Joan Guzman. This fight has been proposed a few times but it seems the Marquez camp wants nothing to do with him. Would this be considered avoiding Guzman or would this be called a business decision. Link: http://www.******************.com/articles.php?id=2355

"Marquez’s substitute foe is going to be Rocky Juarez. That’s the new situation and Juarez was locked in only after the Marquez handlers adamantly refused to fight undefeated WBO champ Joan Guzman. Manager Jose Nunez pushed hard for the Marquez unification bout but the Marquez camp said no, no no and hell no."

    Any thoughts or opinions?

    Guzman, imo, would beat Marquez.

No way, Guzman is all over the place. Marquez is too disciplined to lose to Joan. Marquez by UD, probably 120-108.

I say Guzman breaks him down and keeps JMM on his back foot for the whole fight.

I also think that Guzman beats Marquez & that's why they want no part of him. Guzman & his camp has stated several times that this they've wanted to fight him since his move to the Featherweight class. I think this is a fight that Team Marquez knows he has a good chance of losing so they want to fight lesser fighters until they can get Pac. Why fight Barrios when you can fight the guy that dominated him.

Right off the bat I'd say Guzman is a bit too big for Marquez.

But then again, Guzman has never fought anyone with a fraction of his boxing skill and ability. So it's a pickem fight in my book.

I think that Marquez has lost a step or two since his fight with Pac. I really started to notice it when he fought Terdsak Jandaeng & especially Jimrex. He took alot of punches that he normally wouldn't get hit with. Even in the MAB fight he was very fortunate that he was knocked down at the end of the round because he was out on his feet. I think he'd get stopped by Pac in a rematch & Guzman would beat if not stop him late.

Why would the camp not take on Guzman? Marquez has all the skills to beat him....strange

LOL JMM wouldn't be able to hit Guzman. Guzman would win a easy U.D But a very exciting fight.

Maybe he is scared. JMM vs Guzman would be a huge fight. I just dont see JMM landing much.
