Why is it that fans of the "sweet science" prefer

a fight that consists of: feinting, backpeddling, avoiding contact with opponent, not getting hit and not hit back, less action is better, limp wrist flicking jabs, etc......
How can a fight with minimal action be according to you sweet science fans "real boxing"?

The only fighter that fights like that is Spinks.

Yet, certain "sweet science" fans claim that Spinks puts on beautifull boxing clinics.

That is boxing. Many fight skills combined. If you're quick and can dodge a punch, aren't you going to? If you can feint and make them think you're doing one thing, while you're actually going to do another...aren't you going to? Maybe you should stick with MMA or Rocky movies.

only problem i got with it being too sweet a science is some hardly mixed it up anymore. it's good not to get hit, but if you're afraid of getting your hair messed up by potshotting then backpedaling most of the time, not taking risks, then it gets boring and diabetic, too sweet.

Yea...I can agree with that. SOMEBODY has to bring it.

It somewhat mirrors street fighting though (except in boxing there are rules)...In that you're going to do what you need to do to win...

Maybe we should be criticizing the puncher also for not cutting off the ring well enough or being accurate or fast enough to catch the backpeddler/defensive fighter.

No doubt. I'm just saying it's part of the game. Akin to walks in baseball.

I thought the sweet science consisted of hitting and not being hit. No one gave the second half of the memo to Marquez or Vazquez. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the way they fight, but it is not BOXING in it's most pure form. When is the last time that someone called Rafael Marquez a pure boxer? Never. Marquez and Vazquez are brawlers, and they are ****ing great at it.

The point of boxing is to hit and not get hit. Some people are good at it and some people don't care and just fight/brawl. Those fighters usually end up losing to the fighter that has the mentality to hit and not get hit. Hitting and not getting hit is real boxing.
